‘Dead Ringers’: Prime Video Delays Release Of Trailer Due To Nashville School Shooting

March 28, 2023 by deadline.com

The official trailer for Dead Ringers , Prime Video ’s upcoming psychological thriller limited series starring Rachel Weisz , has been delayed for a day due to the Nashville school shooting which left three children and three adults dead. Dead Ringers , a reimagining with a gender swap of David Cronenberg’s cult classic 1980s film, stars Weisz in the lead dual roles of Elliot and Beverly Mantle. They are twin gynocologists who share everything: drugs, lovers, and an unapologetic desire to do whatever it takes—including pushing the boundaries on medical ethics—in an effort to challenge antiquated practices and bring women’s health care to the forefront. Weisz also serves as an executive producer for the limited series, which is created, written, and executive produced by Emmy-nominated writer and playwright Alice Birch ( Normal People , Succession ). The series’ ensemble cast includes Britne Oldford as Genevieve, Poppy Liu as Greta, Michael Chernus as Tom, … [Read more...] about ‘Dead Ringers’: Prime Video Delays Release Of Trailer Due To Nashville School Shooting

‘Succession’ Season 4 Premiere: Nicholas Braun On A “Big” & “More Bold” Final Season For Greg

March 26, 2023 by deadline.com

The following interview contains spoilers from tonight’s season four premiere episode of HBO ’s Succession , “The Munsters” It’s been roughly two months since Logan Roy’s son-in-law, Tom Wambsgan (Matthew Macfadyen) snitched on his wife, Shiv Roy (Sarah Snook), and her brothers Kendell (Jeremy Strong) and Roman (Kieran Culkin), that the trio were teaming up against daddy (Brian Cox) to thwart his merger with tech company GoJo. The family remains divided with Shiv, Kendell and Roman on one side, looking to launch a new media company and trying to merge with their father’s former rival and acquisition target, family media brand PGM, led by Nan Pierce (Cherry Jones). Then there’s Tom and Logan’s nephew, Greg Hirsch ( Nicholas Braun ), who are squarely on the side of the Waystar Royco titan, part of his inner circle and being tolerated as we saw tonight at Logan’s debbie downer birthday party. One way that Greg tries to liven up the party is by bringing along … [Read more...] about ‘Succession’ Season 4 Premiere: Nicholas Braun On A “Big” & “More Bold” Final Season For Greg

Ben Barnes Breaks Down General Kirigan’s Dark Spiral In Season 2 of ‘Shadow And Bone’

March 17, 2023 by deadline.com

There’s a reason they call him The Darkling. Ben Barnes ‘ General Kirigan is on a downward spiral in Season 2 of Netflix ‘s Shadow and Bone as he seeks to expand The Fold and reign over Ravka. While in Season 1, the then-leader of Ravka’s Grisha army was a respected and charismatic Shadow Summoner, Kirigan has done away with the facade for Season 2. After surviving a Volcra attack that led everyone to believe he’d died, Kirigan has returned — very much alive and with a literal shadow army at his disposal that he’s using to stoke enough fear in the remainder of the Grisha army that they will help him defeat Alina Starkov (Jessie Mei Li), who has set out to find the supposedly mythical creatures that can amplify her powers enough to destroy The Fold. “[Kirigan] was always on the wrong side. He’s always the villain. But in this season, it’s unleashed a little bit and he doesn’t have an army to rely on. He doesn’t have these masks of charm to rely on,” Barnes told … [Read more...] about Ben Barnes Breaks Down General Kirigan’s Dark Spiral In Season 2 of ‘Shadow And Bone’

‘Lingo’s Final Four Episodes Of Season 1 Pushed To 2023-24 Season

March 22, 2023 by deadline.com

Lingo is on the move. CBS has pushed the final four episodes of the RuPaul Charles-hosted quiz show’s first season to the 2023/24 season. The show was renewed for a second season last month and those four episodes will now air as part of that run. Lingo aired on Wednesdays at 9pm and has been replaced by repeats of FBI: Most Wanted, FBI, FBI: International and CSI: Vegas over the next four weeks. Survivor and True Lies remain part of the Wednesday lineup. The game sees teams of two contestants face off in fast-paced puzzle rounds to guess letters that reveal seemingly simple words. At the end of each one-hour episode, the two winning teams will make it through to a final showdown where one will walk away with an additional big cash prize. The series, which was created by Ralph Andrews, has previously aired three versions in the U.S. The first version premiered in syndication in 1987 and was hosted by Ronald Reagan’s son Michael Reagan. It later was … [Read more...] about ‘Lingo’s Final Four Episodes Of Season 1 Pushed To 2023-24 Season

‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ Boss On Season 5 Finale, Plans For June’s Conclusion & ‘The Testaments’

November 8, 2022 by deadline.com

SPOILER ALERT: The story below reveals major plot points from Hulu ’s The Handmaid’s Tale Season 5 finale. Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale wrapped up its fifth season tonight and while a lot has changed for June Osborne ( Elisabeth Moss ), the season ends in ways similar to how it all began. When viewers first meet June, she is torn apart from her husband Luke (O-T Fagbenle) and the life they shared with their daughter Hannah—a scene that’s imitated in the Season 5 finale. June and her daughter Nichole board a train for an unknown future in Hawaii as Luke is arrested by the authorities. His arrest is unfair considering Luke was saving his wife from a man attempting to kill her by running her over in his truck but here we are—the world is crumbling. It’s worth noting the hired hitman was sent by Gilead to dispose of the thorn in their side once and for all but failed. If June was a cat, she’d be down to three lives if my math is accurate. A big part of her she’s … [Read more...] about ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ Boss On Season 5 Finale, Plans For June’s Conclusion & ‘The Testaments’

Gunter Nezhoda , famous for appearing on A&E's hit show "Storage Wars," is dead after losing his battle with cancer. "Storage Wars" star Rene Nezhoda tells TMZ ... his father died Tuesday night in his sleep in Salt Lake City as a result of complications from lung cancer. Rene says his dad was diagnosed in September, and the chemotherapy caused holes in his lungs. We're told Gunter recently flew to Utah for emergency surgery, but doctors determined there was nothing else they could do. His youngest son, Ricky, was by his side when he died. Gunter appeared on seven episodes of "Storage Wars" from 2015 to 2019 ... we're told he filmed an episode with Rene for the upcoming 14th season. ‘House Of The Dragon’ To Get Shorter Season 2 As HBO Series Eyes Season 3 Greenlight

March 28, 2023 by deadline.com

EXCLUSIVE : The upcoming second season of HBO ’s House of the Dragon will consist of eight episodes, two fewer than Season 1 of the Critics Choice Award-winning Game of Thrones prequel. It is part of a long-term plan for the show, which includes HBO mulling a green light for a third season, I have learned. The news comes as production is about to begin on Season 2 in the UK for a likely summer 2024 premiere. In what is a relatively common practice, HBO did not reveal the episode order in the Season 2 renewal announcement last summer. I hear the initial plan was for another 10-episode arc, which eventually changed, leading to some script rewrites. Given the leadership change at HBO’s parent company, some pointed at Warner Bros. Discovery leadership’s focus on cost-cutting. An HBO spokesperson, who confirmed to Deadline that Season 2 will contain 8 episodes, stressed that the episode count trim was story-driven. It has been reported that House of the Dragon’s creative … [Read more...] about ‘House Of The Dragon’ To Get Shorter Season 2 As HBO Series Eyes Season 3 Greenlight

‘Riverdale’ Boss Talks Season 7 Premiere, Hints Characters Will Face Off Against “Society Itself” For 1950s-Set Final Installment

March 29, 2023 by deadline.com

SPOILER ALERT! This post contains details from the Season 7 premiere of The CW ’s Riverdale . It’s the beginning of the end for Riverdale. The series kicked off its final season on Wednesday, picking up where the last moments of Season 6 left off, after the characters were suddenly transported back in time to the 1950s right before Bailey’s comet decimated the town. Archie, Betty, Jughead, Veronica and the rest of the gang are back in high school, in a decade that showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa says is “most associated with Archie Comics .” But while the season will certainly feel nostalgic, it also won’t shy away from the realities of the decade, Aguirre-Sacasa said. “It would have been disingenuous to erase the real struggles and the real hardships that a lot of people in the 1950s faced, especially for our queer characters and our characters of color,” he told Deadline, adding that for Season 7 “the big bad would be the 1950s and society itself — how … [Read more...] about ‘Riverdale’ Boss Talks Season 7 Premiere, Hints Characters Will Face Off Against “Society Itself” For 1950s-Set Final Installment

‘Outer Banks’ Leads Nielsen U.S. Streaming Chart After Season 3 Debut, ‘The Last Of Us’ Dominates Acquired Programming With Episode 7

March 20, 2023 by deadline.com

Outer Banks took over Nielsen’s U.S. streaming chart for the week of February 20 to 26. Following the release of Season 3 on February 23, the Netflix series drew nearly 3.2B viewing minutes during that measurement interval. According to Nielsen, nearly 1B of those viewing minutes (roughly a third) came from Seasons 1 and 2, suggesting that the release of the third installment attracted many new viewers as well as re-watchers. Nielsen doesn’t generally indicate viewing by season, so this gives interesting insight into how much of the viewing from this interval came from Season 3. Netflix self-reported that all three seasons were among its Top 10 English-language series for that week. Audiences were also enthralled by Murdaugh Murders: A Southern Scandal , which generated about 1.4B viewing minutes and came in at No. 2 on the overall streaming list. Once again, HBO’s The Last of Us is putting up a strong showing, moving back up to third place on the charts this … [Read more...] about ‘Outer Banks’ Leads Nielsen U.S. Streaming Chart After Season 3 Debut, ‘The Last Of Us’ Dominates Acquired Programming With Episode 7
