Gaming on a PC has a lot of upsides: better graphics, more control over settings, and a wider catalogue of games to play, but you’re stuck using a mouse and keyboard for controls. That’s fine if you’re playing a first person shooter at your desk (a mouse offers unparalleled control in this situation), but not if you want to kick back on the couch. In that case you’ll want a Bluetooth controller, which lets you control your PC games like you would a console. Reliable wireless controllers used to be hard to come by, but they’ve gotten a lot better over the past few years. Issues like lag and operating system compatibility have largely been eliminated, especially with the rise of Bluetooth. You no longer need to plug a wireless adapter into your computer, install software, and … [Read more...] about These 4 Bluetooth Controllers Turn Your PC Into a Game Console

Karlovy Vary Postpones 2021 Event To Late August As Pandemic Continues To Hurt Euro Film Festivals

· March 4, 2021 ·

This year’s 55th edition of the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival has been postponed from early July to August 20-28, 2021. Organizers cited the ongoing pandemic situation in Czech Republic as the motivating factor for the move. “Moving the festival’s dates back by seven weeks will offer the best chance of holding this cultural event closer to the extent that audiences and festivalgoers have become accustomed to,” the festival said. “Our decision to take this step was made after consulting with experts and upon a careful consideration of the current situation. We hope that the coming months will see a significant increase in vaccinations, thanks to which the pandemic will be brought under control, thus allowing us to hold the Karlovy Vary festival in a form that will be maximally safe for guests and visitors. Naturally, we are ready to observe all applicable regulations,” added KVIFF’s executive director Kryštof Mucha. EMMYS: ‘Walking Dead’s Frank Darabont

· June 23, 2011 ·

Frank Darabont spent five fruitless years of pitching an idea for a zombie television series. But he’s back on Hollywood’s A-list after The Walking Dead , which he created from Robert Kirkman’s original comic book, generated higher ratings in its first season than any of AMC’s previous original shows. Now Darabont has two Hollywood Guild award nominations to go with his three Oscar nods for writing and directing The Shawshank Redemption and The Green Mile . He talks about his longtime love affair with the undead with Deadline TV Contributor Ray Richmond : DEADLINE: Are you such a fan of zombies because you work in Hollywood? FRANK DARABONT: Yes, there are plenty of zombies working in the industry. But I’ve always wanted to tackle the zombie mythos since I was a kid and saw Night of the Living Dead — the original black-and-white version — at a midnight screening. It was just a niche thing then. But I think in the past five years it’s become far more widely embraced. … [Read more...] about EMMYS: ‘Walking Dead’s Frank Darabont

Universal Studios Hollywood Announces “Taste of Universal,” First Step In Reopening LA Theme Park

· March 4, 2021 ·

Almost exactly a year since the park closed due to Covid-19 , Universal Studios Hollywood will take its first step in re-opening with “Taste of Universal,” an outdoor dining and shopping experience taking place within select themed lands. The event will take place Friday to Sunday from noon to 7:00 p.m. beginning Friday, March 12. The move comes about two weeks after Disneyland officials released announced their own very similar mini reopening in Anaheim. That limited-capacity ticketed event will be called “A Touch of Disney .” It’s worth noting that the date for Universal’s event will let it reopen before Disneyland. Universal Studios Hollywood said it is working closely with local health and government officials to implement new health and safety procedures that include controlled capacity to enforce physical distancing and required face coverings. Oscar-Shortlisted ‘Colette’ Tells Woman’s Story Of World War II And French Resistance: “We Were Playing With Fire”

· March 4, 2021 ·

A romantic notion persists that after the Nazis conquered France in 1940 almost the whole French nation rose up heroically to join the Résistance . Not so, as the Oscar-shortlisted short documentary Colette affirms. “There was 1-percent of the population who were actually resisting,” producer Alice Doyard notes of the period before the allies liberated the country. “One-percent of the population was actively collaborating. And the rest…were just pondering. Waiting to see what’s going to happen.” One family that did join the Resistance was the Catherines—mother and father and their two children, 17-year-old Jean-Pierre and 14-year-old Colette. In the documentary Colette, now 92, recalls her time in the Resistance, but downplays her role.
