The Star Wars world was recently rocked with some big news. Gina Carano, who played Cara Dune in the first two seasons of The Mandalorian , is no longer a part of Lucasfilm . She will no longer be a part of any future projects within the franchise. As such, a major character who had become quite popular, just behind Mando and Baby Yoda, is either gone for good or about to be radically changed. With that, the question must be asked; what does this mean for Rangers of the New Republic ? During Disney's big investor day presentation several months back a huge slate of new Star Wars shows were revealed to be in development for Disney+. Much of this had to do with the success of The Mandalorian . Several of these shows are to be set in the same universe. Specifically, Ahsoka , which will center on Rosario Dawson's Ahsoka Tano, and Rangers of the New Republic . Not much else has been revealed about the show but, during the presentation, Lucasfilm President Kathleen … [Read more...] about What Does Gina Carano’s Star Wars Firing Mean for Cara Dune in Rangers of the New Republic?
It's true. Pedro Pascal's casting as Joel in HBO's The Last of Us series has a lot of fans excited, but at the same time, there's some concern about what this all means for his role on The Mandalorian going forward. This week, it was announced that Bella Ramsey ( Game of Thrones ) had been cast to play Ellie on the show, one of the two main characters alongside Joel. Pascal's casting was reported very soon after with the actor personally confirming the news on Twitter. So, what does this mean for Pascal's role as Din Djarin on The Mandalorian ? Some readers might have noticed that in the original Deadline report, it was noted that while Pascal would remain on the Star Wars series, The Last of Us would be taking " first position " with the actor. In other words, the new HBO series will take precedence over The Mandalorian if there are any scheduling conflicts, potentially limiting Pascal's involvement in the latter if both shows end up filming around the same time. … [Read more...] about Does Pedro Pascal’s The Last of Us Casting Mean He’s Leaving The Mandalorian?
Up until now, the commercials in WandaVision have been fairly straight forward by being subtle references to the major events in Wanda's life and her past traumas. But the latest commercial in its (literally) explosive Episode 6 completely deviates from the ads before it- firstly, it is animated and lacks the couple. And secondly, it holds up no pretenses to hide its sinister and macabre meaning. In the fifth episode of WandaVision , the commercial was a direct reference to the accidental explosion that Wanda caused in Lagos, Nigeria while trying to save Captain America. While it's our belief that the commercials, up until Episode 5, mean more if you look past their obvious reference, the disturbing yoghurt ad in the sixth episode bypasses the crypticness of the ones before it. Yeah, yeah, yeah, Universal/DreamWorks Animation’s Croods: A New Age led the box office for its fifth weekend out of 13 running, and crossed $50M, inching closer to becoming the top grossing movie of the pandemic, and potentially upsetting Warner Bros.’ Tenet ($57.9M total domestic). However, in a business where the transparency of numbers has always been public, for better or for worse, Disney’s Searchlight Pictures isn’t reporting box office numbers or location counts on the Chloe Zhao-directed Frances McDormand four Golden Globe nominated feature Nomadland which went wide this weekend, in its third outing, at 1,175 locations. The pic has already been in release on Imax and PLF screens over the last two weeks where according to sources it’s made $170K, and this past weekend, Nomadland grossed an estimated $503K , which is on par to the opening weekend of Searchlight’s The Personal History of David Copperfield back in late August, when cinemas reopened, which … [Read more...] about ‘Croods 2’ Crosses $50M; Searchlight Staying Quiet On ‘Nomadland’ B.O. & What That Means During Awards Season
