The Moodys is set to make its return April Fool’s Day with back-to-back episodes to reunite the audience with the tight-knit, but slightly dysfunctional Moody family through their misadventures. During today’s TCA presser, Fox unveiled an extended look at the upcoming sophomore season, which can be viewed below. “Anybody that has adult children, and I do — I have two adult children — after having them, raise them and love them for as long as you have within the course of a marriage, you do have a lot of love and anger and stories and experiences to build on in dealing with especially adult children,” teased star Denis Leary , who also serves as an executive producer on the series. Based on the Australian series A Moody Christmas , The Moodys started as a Christmas event comedy series with the first installment airing during the holiday season last year. New Line announced a new Max Original movie today which is already filming, 8-Bit Christmas , starring Neil Patrick Harris , Winslow Fegley , June Diane Raphael and Steve Zahn . The comedy, directed by Michael Dowse, is set in suburban Chicago in the late 1980s, and follows ten-year-old Jake Doyle’s (Fegley) herculean quest to get the latest and greatest video game system for Christmas. Harris plays Adult Jake Doyle (and also narrates) while Raphael and Zahn play Young Jake’s parents, Kathy and John. Emmy and Tony Award winning actor and New York Times bestselling author Harris recently starred in HBO Max series It’s a Sin and next stars in The Matrix 4 which opens on Dec. 22. Mark Josephson , a major force on the New York music scene with his Rockpool record pool and his cofouding of the New Music Seminar , died March 2. He had a fatal heart attack, according to his father, Jack Josephson. Rockpool was a record pool in the 80s promoting primarily rock and new wave records, which DJs subscribed. It was highly influential in the burgeoning college radio market, which boosted the emerging alternative, rap, and dance music markets. Rockpool billted itself as the original new wave rock and progressive dance music pool serving club DJs and college radio The New Music Seminar was an annual music festival and conference that ran from 1980 to 1995. Josephson partners with Tom Silverman, Joel Webber, Danny Heaps and Scott Anderson to launch the first seminar, attended by 220 people at a New York rehearsal studio. Melissa McCarthy and Octavia Spencer are two estranged best friends who become superheroes in Thunder Force . The Ben Falcone-directed film arrives via Netflix on April 9th. The new trailer for the superhero comedy finds Lydia (McCarthy) and Emily (Spencer), childhood best friends who had a falling out, reuniting as adults. Emily has developed a genetic platform, which gives ordinary people extraordinary superpowers. When Lydia visits Emily’s lab, she accidentally doses herself with the sole formula that provides super strength. Meanwhile, Emily’s superpower is invisibility. The two, who dub themselves “Thunder Force,” fumble their way through utilizing their newly acquired superpowers to fight the villains who populate their Chicago hometown, including a glowing red-eyed Bobby Cannavale .
