EXCLUSIVE: James Bond producer Barbara Broccoli has revealed that it will be “at least two years“ before the next 007 movie begins filming and that the task of finding an actor to replace Daniel Craig hasn’t begun “because it’s a reinvention of Bond.” Speaking to us at a star-studded private event in central London to honor Broccoli and her brother Michael G. Wilson for their BFI Fellowships, Broccoli wouldn’t be drawn on who would play Bond next but did offer an update on the decision-making process. “Nobody’s in the running,” she disclosed. “We’re working out where to go with him, we’re talking that through. There isn’t a script and we can’t come up with one until we decide how we’re going to approach the next film because, really, it’s a reinvention of Bond. We’re reinventing who he is and that takes time. I’d say that filming is at least two years away.” The private dinner was held at Claridge’s Hotel in central London and was hosted by British Film … [Read more...] about Barbara Broccoli Says Next James Bond Film Is Two Years Away From Production: “We’re Reinventing Him”

Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Chad Smith Answers Your Twitter Questions
Although Red Hot Chili Peppers member Chad Smith and his doppelgänger Will Ferrell may have spent much of 2014 trying to prove how different they are from one another, with their hilarious competition on The Tonight Show , the drummer does have something in common with the actor: he’s very funny. As Rolling Stone read the drummer the questions fans sent in via Twitter, he cracked wise about everything from the Chili Peppers’ penchant for wearing socks on their private parts to how Ferrell “robbed” him of the Golden Cowbell during his drum-off with the actor this year. Over the past quarter century, Smith has played with the Chili Peppers, the supergroup Chickenfoot and various sessions with the likes of Kid Rock, the Dixie Chicks and Johnny Cash. And, with an eye toward helping other musicians, he has also spent time lobbying for music education in Washington, D.C. – including a recent trip to the White House – and building a drum community with his Chad Smith Drum … [Read more...] about Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Chad Smith Answers Your Twitter Questions
Margaret Keane Dies: Kitschy ‘Big Eyes’ Artist, Subject Of Tim Burton Biopic Was 94
Margaret Keane , whose wildly popular paintings of big-eyed, melancholy children (and later celebrities with deep pockets) became one of the most widely recognized signature artistic styles of the late 20th Century – and whose long battle with her husband over his fraudulent and lucrative claims of authorship inspired the 2014 Tim Burton film Big Eyes starring Amy Adams – died Sunday at home in Napa, California. She was 94. Her death was reported on her official Facebook page today: “We’re sad to announce that Margaret Keane, ‘The Mother of Big Eyes, our Queen, a Modern Master and Legend’ peacefully passed away Sunday morning at her home in Napa, CA, she was 94.” Her daughter Jane Swigert told The New York Times that the cause of death was heart failure. Keane’s instantly recognizable paintings of children, typically portrayed and described as waifs with huge, sad and dinner-plate-sized eyes, became massively popular in the 1950s and ’60s, at first sincerely … [Read more...] about Margaret Keane Dies: Kitschy ‘Big Eyes’ Artist, Subject Of Tim Burton Biopic Was 94

Bison Attacks Man and His Family At Yellowstone National Park
Rob Goodell A scary moment for a man and his family, when an angry bison charged the group, goring one person and sending them to the hospital. It all went down on Monday, the 34-year-old man and his family were walking on a boardwalk near the animal at Yellowstone National Park. Apparently, the trio got a little too close for comfort to the bison, who charged them ... knocking the man and a child to the ground. Officials say the man was gored, suffering injuries to his arm and sending him to the hospital for treatment. Amazon Prime Video Rolling Out ‘Watch Party’ Social Viewing On Laptops
Amazon Prime Video is matching moves by streaming rivals by rolling out Watch Party , a new feature allowing simultaneous viewing of film or TV titles up to 100 Prime subscribers. The feature, available for Prime members in the U.S. at no cost, started to slowly roll out Monday on laptops only. Apple’s Safari browser will not support the the native social viewing tool. It is unclear when — or if — it will arrive on other platforms beyond laptops, like gaming consoles, connected-TV devices or smart TVs. Hulu said in May it is testing a feature it also calls Watch Party on its ad-free tier. Many Netflix users have spent time in recent months using the “Netflix Party” extension for Chrome web browsers. A Seattle-based startup called Scener has also announced ventures with HBO, Netflix and other programmers to enable social viewing. Kast is a more recent successor to predecessors like Rabbit, which folded in 2019. Broken Bells’ James Mercer on Turning Dark Songs Into a Party Record
Last week, Danger Mouse told us that Broken Bells ’ new album After the Disco was “a pretty sad record.” The other half of the Bells’ equation, the Shins ’ James Mercer , says it’s not a total buzzkill. “There’s a lot of personal angst there,” Mercer says. “If you were to take the chords and play them on a piano they would sound pretty sad. But then you add the beat and the hooks and it becomes kind of a party record in a way.” Rolling Stone spoke to Mercer about what After the Disco means to him, how parenting influences his songwriting and what the new U2 album might sound like. See where Broken Bells’ ‘The Ghost Inside’ ranks on our 50 Best Songs of 2010 When the Shins were touring for Port of Morrow, w ere you already thinking of the new Broken Bells record? Wincing The Night Away
The Shins ’ 2001 Oh, Inverted World was a siren song from a familiar type: “pimpled and angry” outsider saved by music, but still cut off from the love he seeks by unkind women and cruel fate. In 2003, Chutes Too Narrow topped two pained kiss-off songs with four fatalistic philosophical ones, then shifted into a nostalgic tribute to a girlfriend from the pimpled years, two self-critical relationship songs, and an enigmatic acoustic finale for “Those to Come,” who are “waiting in the ether to form, feel, kill, propagate, only to die.” The shapeliness of this sequence wasn’t instantly self-evident. But nothing less would have suited one of the deftest, subtlest and just plain loveliest guitar-rock albums of the decade. More than three years later, James Mercer and his mates have finally followed up that indie-rock touchstone. Because Mercer is adored for his musical facility, not his thematic depth, anything short of a Metal Machine Music homage will be ecstatically received, … [Read more...] about Wincing The Night Away
