EXCLUSIVE : Laura Trevelyan has said that her professional success can be traced back to Britain’s colonial history after quitting the BBC this week to tackle her family’s slave trade legacy. In an interview with Deadline, the former BBC World News anchor said she felt a personal responsibility for her ancestors owning slaves in Grenada, the Caribbean island. Trevelyan also called on King Charles III to properly confront the British royal family’s connection to slavery amid a growing reckoning among Commonwealth nations in the Caribbean. The 54-year-old enjoyed a 30-year career at the BBC, presenting shows including Emmy-winner BBC World News America . Zachary Levi isn’t giving up on the movie followup to his NBC series Chuck , and he says creators Josh Schwartz and Chris Fedak are on board. Levi starred in the spy dramedy from 2007 to 2012 as Chuck Bartowski, an average guy who was dragged into the world of the the CIA and NSA to take on dangerous criminals and other threats. He’s been campaigning for an expansion of the Chuck universe since the show ended, but he recently said on SiriusXM’s The Jess Cagle Show that it might actually be coming to fruition. “I’ve been trying to make a Chuck movie since before we even finished the show. SAG-AFTRA Says Use Of AI To Simulate Actors’ Performances Must Be Bargained For
If producers use artificial intelligence to simulate an actor’s performance, they’re going to have to bargain for it, SAG-AFTRA said Friday in a statement on the use of AI and digital doubling. “The terms and conditions involving rights to digitally simulate a performer to create new performances must be bargained with the union,” the guild said in a statement. “These rights are mandatory subjects of bargaining under the National Labor Relations Act,” the guild says. “Companies are required to bargain with SAG-AFTRA before attempting to acquire these rights in individual performers’ contracts. To attempt to circumvent SAG-AFTRA and deal directly with the performers on these issues is a clear violation of the NLRA.” The WGA has staked out a similar position . Sam Neill, Receiving Treatment For Stage Three Blood Cancer, Says He’s “Just Pleased To Be Alive”
Sam Neill first noticed he had swollen glands while promoting Jurassic World Dominion last March. After consulting a physician, the actor was diagnosed with angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma, a rare form of blood cancer . His course of treatment began with chemotherapy, which did not work. Neill, now 75, said he began taking a new chemotherapy drug and, after a long road, is now cancer free. He will, however, need to receive the drug monthly for the rest of his life. “I can’t pretend that the last year hasn’t had its dark moments,” Neill said in an interview with The Guardian . “But those dark moments throw the light into sharp relief, you know, and have made me grateful for every day and immensely grateful for all my friends.
