Netflix has released the key art for its anticipated One Piece live-action series based on one of the best-selling manga titles of all time. The series is slated to premiere later this year. The key art poster reveals Iñaki Godoy as Monkey D. Luffy, wearing the character’s signature red vest and straw hat. In addition to Luffy, the key art teases the live-action debuts of Zoro, Nami, Usopp, and Sanji, the primary Straw Hats, played by Mackenyu (Roronoa Zoro), Emily Rudd (Nami), Jacob Romero Gibson (Usopp) and Taz Skylar (Sanji). WGA East Members Threaten To Strike HuffPost Unless Given A Fair Contract By Midnight Tuesday
WGA East members employed as writers and editors at the HuffPost news site are threatening to go on strike if a fair contract can’t be reached by Tuesday night at midnight ET. With only two days left of bargaining, their strike pledge comes after months of negotiations for a new contract. According to the guild, 98% of the 91-member HuffPost Union signed on to the strike pledge. “We are prepared to strike,” says the strike pledge, which was delivered to management today. “We, the members of the HuffPost Union, are committed to a collective bargaining agreement that reflects the realities of the economy, our changing industry, and the issues most important to our unit. ‘Bridgerton’ Star Phoebe Dynevor Exits Netflix Series Ahead Of Season 3
Daphne Basset will join her husband off-screen as Phoebe Dynevor is exiting Netflix ’s hit series Bridgerton ahead of Season 3. Sources tell Deadline Dynevor has completed her contractual obligations. Dynevor revealed she would not appear in the new season in an interview at the Sundance Film Festival with Screenrant, saying she could pop up in a future season. The Duchess of Hastings appeared minimally in five episodes of Season 2. Regé-Jean Page, who played her husband the Duke of Hastings, exited the series after Season 1. Bobby Hull Dies: First NHL Player To Score More Than 50 Goals In One Season Was 84
Bobby Hull , the NHL Hall of Famer who was the first to score more than 50 goals in a single season and is considered among the league’s all-time best left-wingers, died Monday, the NHL Alumni Association said. He was 84. The Chicago Blackhawks — the Original Six team for which he played 15 seasons from 1957-72 — cited Hull’s “historic impact” on the club, tweeting, “The Golden Jet helped the Blackhawks win the 1961 Stanley Cup and delivered countless memories for our fans, whom he adored. Generations of Chicagoans were dazzled by Bobby’s shooting prowess, skating skill and overall team leadership.” Longtime NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman said is a statement today: “When Bobby Hull wound up to take a slapshot, fans throughout the NHL rose to their feet in anticipation and opposing goaltenders braced themselves. Rita Moreno Set For Artios Awards Career Honor; Yvette Nicole Brown To Host Ceremony
EGOT winner Rita Moreno will receive the Casting Society ’s career honor, the Lynn Stalmaster Award, at the 38th annual Artios Awards next month. The org also has set Yvette Nicole Brown to host the ceremony on March 9 at the Beverly Hilton. Moreno, whose 80 for Brady hits theaters Friday, scored an Academy Award nom last year for Steven Spielberg’s West Side Story after winning an Oscar for the 1961 original. She also received the Producers Guild’s Stanley Kramer Award in 2002. Those are among the latest accolades in a seven-decade career that began with her Broadway debut at 13. In another organizing win for the WGA East , The Huffington Post has agreed to recognize the union as the collective bargaining representative of its editorial staff. Over the last year the guild has also organized the digital writing staffs at Vice Media, Gawker Media, Salon and The Guardian US. “I am delighted to let you know that we have reached an agreement with the Writers Guild of America, East to proceed to voluntary recognition by counting signed union cards,” said Arianna Huffington in an email to her staff. “Assuming a majority, we will recognize the union. Donald Trump Sues Bob Woodward, Simon & Schuster Over Release Of Interview Audio Recordings
Donald Trump has found a new avenue to sue the media: Copyright. He filed a lawsuit in federal court on Monday, alleging that Bob Woodward and his publisher, Simon & Schuster, needed his permission before releasing the audio book, The Trump Tapes , last year. The audiobook is a collection of 20 interviews that Woodward conducted with Trump. “Said audio was protected material, subject to various limitations on use and distribution—as a matter of copyright, license, contract, basic principles of the publishing industry, and core values of fairness and consent,” according to the lawsuit. (Read it here ). Among other things, Woodward interviewed Trump for his book Rage, released in 2020. The book was a bombshell, as Trump admitted that he wanted to play down the Covid threat in the early weeks of the pandemic.
