Anthony Edwards might have a future in the NFL -- the Minnesota Timberwolves star showed off his rocket arm in a highlight video ... and it was so impressive, even the G.O.A.T. himself, Tom Brady , had to show respect. The 20-year-old hooper posted a clip of his football workout with some of his friends recently ... with the guys engaging in 1-on-1 battles. In the video, Ant -- who was playing QB -- airs it out with a beauty of a throw ... putting the football where only the receiver could catch it. But, Edwards didn't stop there ... he successfully completed a back-shoulder pass as well, easily one of the toughest throws for any QB in the NFL to make. "Don't I look like something?" Edwards asked after delivering back-to-back bombs. "What y'all think? I got a profession in this s*** or what? Pay me!" Ant I know the money is good but you’re playing the wrong sport bro. @NFL https://t.co/FC6F05YSmr — Tom Brady (@TomBrady) June 30, 2022 @TomBrady … [Read more...] about Anthony Edwards Shows Off Insane QB Skills, Tom Brady Approves

TUESDAY AM UPDATE: The Tom Cruise Paramount / Skydance sequel goes to an even higher stratosphere with a 4-day $160.5M Memorial Day opening record. Global is at a $300M start. Hell’s Angels on Trial: Tales of Drugs & Death
Whispering Bill Pifer is dying. The cancer growing in his throat has now all but choked off his raspy voice. A lip reader stood beside him and interpreted his words to the courtroom. They came slow and measured, the damning silent words of a dying Hell’s Angel. “ I understand I would have complete immunity,” Pifer’s lips said. “I won’t testify without it. The time I have left, I want to spend on the street.” Sonny Barger, 33-year-old president of the Hell’s Angels, supposedly talked too much to Whispering Bill while they were both in the Alameda County Jail in Oakland, California. The cold-eyed Barger has a reputation as a braggart, and this time, according to police, something he and Whispering Bill talked about led them to the hilly grasslands near Ukiah in far northern California, where police found three bodies stuffed into abandoned wells on a 153-acre ranch owned by the Angels. Big Tom Shull, 24, and Charles Baker, 30, had both been strangled. Their bodies had been in the … [Read more...] about Hell’s Angels on Trial: Tales of Drugs & Death
Willie Nelson Details His ‘Wild’ Friendship With Drummer Paul English in New Book
Willie Nelson will explore his many adventures with late drummer Paul English in his new book, Me and Paul: Untold Tales of a Fabled Friendship , set to be released Sept. 20 via Harper Horizon. A member of Nelson’s band since 1966, English was renowned for his tough, outlaw style and served as the group’s de facto bodyguard in addition to his drumming duties. He adopted a persona called “The Devil,” matching the name with an evil-looking goatee and wearing a cape. He earned a reputation for fist fights as well as getting his mates out of dangerous situations on the road. Nelson immortalized him in song with 1971’s “Me & Paul,” a travelogue of sorts that chronicled some memorable — and possibly illegal — mishaps in Laredo, Milwaukee, and Buffalo. English remained a regular member of Nelson’s band up until his 2020 death at the age of 87. “There’s something about my friendship with Paul that reminds me of Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn,” Nelson said in a statement. “Tom was … [Read more...] about Willie Nelson Details His ‘Wild’ Friendship With Drummer Paul English in New Book
‘Mayans M.C.’ Review: ‘Sons of Anarchy’ Spin-off Is a Weaker Retread
Sons of Anarchy was one of the biggest hits in the history of FX. The outlaw biker club drama’s second season was a classic. Katey Sagal was annually one of the Emmys’ most egregious snubs, and the show had a deep ensemble of actors like Charlie Hunnam, Maggie Siff, Ryan Hurst and Jimmy Smits to elevate what creator Kurt Sutter once described as “bloody pulp fiction with highly complex characters.” Sons was also given to excess in almost every way: more plot twists, more graphic torture, more minutes per episode. (It, probably more than any other recent series, is responsible for the trend of drama episodes routinely creeping past the one-hour mark.) Just more more more, until it became too exhausting to watch. By the time Jax Teller made his final ride, even many die-hard SAMCRO fans had had enough. After a misfire with the medieval fantasy The Bastard Executioner , Sutter has returned to familiar territory with Mayans M.C. , a spin-off (co-created by Elgin James) set in … [Read more...] about ‘Mayans M.C.’ Review: ‘Sons of Anarchy’ Spin-off Is a Weaker Retread

As Packaging Comes To An End, Squabbles Over Grandfathered Projects Likely To Continue
It has been a long goodbye for packaging since the WGA and the major agencies’ new franchise agreements, signed in 2020-21 after an epic fight, included a “phase-in of packaging fee prohibition” period that ends tonight. But while for the WGA “it’s the end of new packages on guild-covered projects going forward,” per WGA West assistant executive director Ellen Stutzman, I hear that WME , CAA and UTA may not feel that way. Different interpretations of the language in the agreement could trigger dozens of arbitration proceedings, with studios stuck in the middle of potential disputes. After a 22-month standoff, the WGA’s campaign targeting what the guild referred to as “conflicted agency practices” of packaging and affiliated production come to a successful end in February 2021 when the last holdout, WME, signed a franchise agreement stipulating that an “agent’s right to negotiate packaging fees shall terminate on June 30, 2022,” while limiting agencies’ ownership in … [Read more...] about As Packaging Comes To An End, Squabbles Over Grandfathered Projects Likely To Continue
