Warriors to keep ‘Golden State’ name in San Francisco, thanks to 2 NBA titles
By Bruce Jenkins Published 12:33 pm, Thursday, April 5, 2018 Not that it’s a big surprise to anyone, but the suspense has officially been removed regarding the Warriors’ name when they move to San Francisco. They will remain the Golden State Warriors, as confirmed by president Rick Welts on KNBR on Wednesday morning. All it took was a question from talk-show host Brian Murphy, and Welts responded: “Let’s make some news today. It’s official. OK? We’ll make some news.” This was a hot-button issue in 2012, when the Warriors announced their plans to move across the bay.
