Netflix has greenlit the new 2D animated series Jentry Chau vs. The Underworld from first-time showrunner Echo Wu and executive producers Ali Wong ( Beef ) and Aron Eli Coleite ( Locke & Key ). Wong will also star in the supernatural action series alongside Bowen Yang , Lori Tan Chinn , Lucy Liu , Jimmy O. Yang , Sheng Wang , and Woosung Kim . The series follows Jentry Chau (voiced by Wong), a Chinese-American teen living in a small Texas town, who finds out a demon king is hunting her for the supernatural powers she’s been working her whole life to repress. EXCLUSIVE: The BFI is to involve Bectu with its Skills Task Force after being criticized for the “disappointing” decision to initially exclude the union. Deadline understands Bectu will play a role with the Task Force going forwards. Chaired by former Amazon Studios Europe boss Georgia Brown, the Task Force was unveiled earlier today to address major skills shortages in the UK film and TV sector over the next five years. The 20-plus delegates sitting on the body includes streamers, U.S. studios, UK broadcasters and a number of trade bodies, but has no union representation. The group has met once already without Bectu. Emmy-nominated Korean actress and model Hoyeon , who made waves with Netflix’s Squid Game , is set to make her feature debut in director Na Hong-Jin ’s Korean thriller Hope , which we revealed earlier today . She joins Oscar winner Alicia Vikander and Oscar nominee Michael Fassbender. This is the first project from acclaimed Korean director Na since 2016 hit The Wailing , and it’ll mark Hoyeon’s first starring role in a Korean project since she made her screen debut in Squid Game . ITV Studios has acquired a majority stake in Australian producer Lingo Pictures — marking its first acquisition in the country. ITV’s production and sales arm paid an undisclosed amount for the Sydney-based company, which is best known for Upright , the Sky and Foxtel Australia drama starring Tim Minchin and House of the Dragons ‘ Milly Alcock. Deadline understands the deal value is in the eight-figure US dollars region. The deal highlights the growing value international production groups are seeing in Australia, whose favorable tax breaks system is increasingly attractive, and Australian dramas, with Paramount+’s Last King of the Cross one of the most sought-after titles available at Mipcom last month.
