Wendy Williams Says She’s Winning Battle with Lymphedema, Ready for Podcast
TMZ.com One thing ya know about Wendy Williams , she doesn't tiptoe around anything ... which is why she told us -- as only Wendy could -- about her ongoing medical struggles, and starting her new career. Wendy joined us Tuesday on "TMZ Live" to tell us more about why she's turning her back on TV, for now, and instead, choosing to produce her own podcast -- and, for her, it comes down to time and money. Sounds like she's been doing some homework, because she told us ... "When you're famous, podcasts will make more money for me, being famous, than doing the Wendy Williams Show." She made it clear, she's "100 percent retired" from the grind of her daily TV show. Wendy's still in the planning stages when it comes to exactly what she's going to dig into during the podcast -- although, as we first reported, she has some celeb guests in mind already. But, the biggest revelation she dropped on us was about her battle with lymphedema. She had … [Read more...] about Wendy Williams Says She’s Winning Battle with Lymphedema, Ready for Podcast

CAA Completes Acquisition Of ICM Partners
Almost nine months to the day after the surprise announcement that CAA was acquiring ICM Partners , the deal is finally going through after getting government approval to create a mega agency in the biggest linkup in the space since the WMA-Endeavor merger. More than 50 positions are expected to be eliminated; that includes the couple of dozen agents and other staffers who have left in the past few months after the regulatory approval process dragged on, delaying the deal by about six months from the time frame CAA and ICM originally had projected. As Deadline reported earlier this month , the ICM agents whom the combined company wants to keep recently received formal invitations and non-negotiable offers, which have not been received well. Recent departures include Daniel Cohan, Michael Kagan, Chris Von Goetz, Katie Cates, Andrew Rogers, Brittany Perlmuter, Joanne Wiles, Kyle Jaeger, James Robins Early, Jessica Lacy and Chris Smith. Woody Allen Plans To Make “One Or Two More” Films, But “The Thrill Is Gone” Due To Decline Of Movie Theaters
In a conversation with Alec Baldwin livestreamed on Instagram, Woody Allen said he plans to direct “one or two more” films, but also said “the thrill is gone” because of the decline of the theatrical experience. Without revealing details about the project, Allen said he will direct a film that will shoot in Paris in the late-summer or early fall. His last film was Rifkin’s Festival , which grossed just $2.3 million, reaching the U.S. in a limited release earlier this year but making little impact. MPI Media Group handled that film, stepping in for Amazon Studios, which yanked its $80 million distribution deal with Allen in 2019. The filmmaker has seen his career options narrow in recent years amid increased scrutiny around allegations of sexual abuse. Book publisher Hachette also canceled publication of his memoir in 2020. Even before Covid, Allen said, the challenging environment for traditional theatrical releases was starting to weigh on him. “When I started, … [Read more...] about Woody Allen Plans To Make “One Or Two More” Films, But “The Thrill Is Gone” Due To Decline Of Movie Theaters

CAA Amplify: The Importance Of Tackling Diversity Beyond The Surface
The CAA Amplify summit took a dive into the complex conversation of diversity and inclusion in Hollywood with a focus beyond the surface. Anthony Ramos, Lauren Ridloff , and Storm Reid were among the creatives from underserved communities who spoke openly about the experiences that led them to where they are today and the challenges they faced that pushes them to keep going. Lauren Ridloff portrayed speedster Makkari in Marvel’s Eternals , a deaf superhero whose disability gave her a super advantage over her colleagues. “Makkari’s superpower is that she can create sonic booms, and because of her deafness, these sonic booms affect other people but not her,” she said. “I remember shooting one day on set and we were talking about safety during the on-set explosions and the importance of using protection for our delicate eardrums. So when a PA handed out plugs, I declined. He wondered if I was sure and I said, “I don’t have delicate eardrums. I’m sure.’ I definitely felt the … [Read more...] about CAA Amplify: The Importance Of Tackling Diversity Beyond The Surface
Families of Trans Kids Are Banding Together to Save Their Children
As Texas slowly turned up the heat on trans youth and their families over the past year, Violet didn’t want to be the frog trapped in the pot of boiling water. “The frog doesn’t realize it until it’s getting cooked,” she says. “We could see where things were going and we thought, ‘We really need to not wait until it’s too late.’” Violet, whose name has been changed because she fears potential prosecution from her former home state, is the parent of two transgender children. Last year, she decided it was time to leave Texas after Gov. Greg Abbott signed a law banning trans students from playing on sports teams that align with their gender identity. Things only got worse from there. In February, Abbott issued an order directing the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services to conduct “investigations of any reported instances of Texas children being subjected to abusive gender-transitioning procedures,” according to his office . Although Violet knew she … [Read more...] about Families of Trans Kids Are Banding Together to Save Their Children
