Former Directors Guild presidents Paris Barclay and Thomas Schlamme have been named co-chairs of the DGA Outreach Team in advance of what the guild predicts will be “difficult” negotiations for a new film and TV contract, which are set to start May 10 . Sports Illustrated Studios Launches As Joint Film/TV Venture By Authentic Brands And 101 Studios
With demand surging for sports-themed films and TV series, Authentic Brands Group and David Glasser’s 101 Studios have launched Sports Illustrated Studios, an exclusive home for film and TV adaptations of the magazine’s work. Plans call for several scripted or unscripted feature films and TV series per year, as well as podcasts. Their basis will be the magazine’s “unique looks at the culture and characters that transcend the game,” in the words of the official announcement. In charge of all production, distribution and marketing for Sports Illustrated Studios will be 101 Studios, which Glasser started after leaving his longtime post at the Weinstein Company. Mike Pence must testify before a grand jury about his conversations with Donald Trump , forcing the former vice president to comply with a subpoena issued as part of a special counsel investigation of efforts to overturn the election on January 6 . CNN, citing unnamed sources, broke the news of Judge James Boasberg’s decision, and it was quickly confirmed by other outlets. According to CNnNand other outlets, the judge ruled in a sealed order that even though Pence has to appear before a grand jury, he could decline to answer questions related to his actions on January 6. Pence had argued that he was immune under the Constitution’s Speech or Debate Clause, given that he was serving as president of the Senate in overseeing the counting of the electoral votes.
