Sometimes the stories you really care about start out as mere footnotes to government business. Special Counsel Robert Mueller and his office just wanted to set the record straight about how former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort came to be arrested by the FBI. Articles from the New York Times and the Washington Post were both cited in a footnote of a filing as examples of “not responsible” reporting, particularly on the claim that authorities picked Manafort’s lock. Mueller and his prosecutors took issue with reported details that FBI agents conducted a no-knock raid and picked the lock of Manafort’s front door. In the footnote, they quote the court: “But, I do question the publication of the completely unsupported speculation that this revelation was an intentional leak by the Office of the Special Counsel. No reporter had any facts to base that on, so I’m not sure why anyone printed it. It’s not responsible.” In other words, the … [Read more...] about ‘It’s Not Responsible’: Mueller’s Office Calls Out New York Times for Incorrect Story About Picking Manafort’s Lock

Trump Admin Slaps New Sanctions on Russian Oligarchs, Putin Cronies in Response to ‘Malign Activity’
The Trump Administration has authorized new sanctions against several major Russian entities and power players in retaliation for Moscow’s interference with the 2016 election. The Treasury Department announced that the new penalties will target a dozen Russian companies controlled by the nation’s oligarchs and key allies of Vladimir Putin. The business affected will include the Russian Financial Corporation Bank, as well as Rosoboronexport, a state-owned arms dealer involved with conflicts in Syria. “The Russian government engages in a range of malign activity around the globe, including continuing to occupy Crimea and instigate violence in eastern Ukraine, supplying the Assad regime with material and weaponry as they bomb their own civilians, attempting to subvert Western democracies, and malicious cyber activities,” said Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin. “Russian oligarchs and elites who profit from this corrupt system will no longer be insulated from … [Read more...] about Trump Admin Slaps New Sanctions on Russian Oligarchs, Putin Cronies in Response to ‘Malign Activity’

Thanks to the latest cover of Disney's D23 magazine, we have a new image from Marvel's Ant-Man and The Wasp featuring the two shrinkable superheroes played by Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly standing back to back. From what I understand, we won't really be seeing these two characters in Avengers: Infinity War. Their absence is sure to be explained in Ant-Man and The Wasp. We also know that they will have a big role to play in Avengers 4, so that's something to look forward to! It's exciting to think about the epic journey that lies ahead for these two heroes. From the Marvel Cinematic Universe comes a new chapter featuring heroes with the astonishing ability to shrink: Ant-Man and The Wasp. In the aftermath of Captain America: Civil War, Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) grapples with the consequences of his choices as both a Super Hero and a father. As he struggles to rebalance his home life with his responsibilities as Ant-Man, he’s confronted by Hope van Dyne (Evangeline … [Read more...] about New ANT-MAN AND THE WASP Image Features the Two Shrinkable Heroes Standing Back to Back
