Record Store Day, Vans Team Up for Dual LPs Supporting Black-Owned Record Shops
Record Store Day has teamed up with Vans to release two LPs in support of black-owned record shops. Songs for You, Vols 1 & 2 will be released this summer for Record Store Day 2021. Nineteen artists will be featured on both compilations, including Curtis Mayfield, Otis Redding, Summer Walker, Esperanza Spalding, Common, Freddie Gibbs, and more. Roberta Flack’s recent cover of Marvin Gaye’s “What’s Going On” is also included. “Black-owned record stores have historically served as places where our community has gathered to learn, listen, and celebrate,” Flack said in a statement. “They have been places of political activism, where we find our voices through the music we hear. Kristen Bell & Dax Shepard To Host NBC Gameshow ‘Family Game Fight’, Based On Ellen Skits
Married couple Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard are taking their amped up family game nights to a new level. NBC has ordered Family Game Fight , which will see the actors both host and compete in the ten-part series. The series, which will test brains, brawn and family bonds over the course of an hour, will see Bell and Shepard be adopted into a family of four as they compete in a series of games with a big cash prize up for grabs. It marks the first gameshow for the pair, who are better known for on screen roles such as Bell’s performance in The Good Place and Veronica Mars and Shepard’s The Ranch and Bless This Mess. BAFTA has named the five contenders for its Rising Star award this year: Kingsley Ben-Adir, Conrad Khan, Bukky Bakray, Sope Dirisu, and Morfydd Clark. Kingsley Ben-Adir starred in Regina’s King’s directorial debut film One Night in Miami as Malcolm X. His career started on the stage, in plays including Mark Rylance’s Much Ado About Nothing . He most recently starred opposite Zoe Kravitz in the Hulu series High Fidelity ; played a co-lead role in the third series of the Brit Marling Netflix series The OA ; played Colonel Ben Younger in the BBC/Netflix drama Peaky Blinders ; and starred in films The Commuter, King Arthur: Legend of the Sword and Trespass Against Us. Conrad Khan is known for his role as Tyler in Henry Blake’s UK indie County Lines.
