By Steve Bulpett | [email protected] | Boston HeraldJanuary 11, 2019 at 11:53 pm ORLANDO, Fla. — R.J. Hunter wasn’t expecting a call from the Celtics, though he was happy it came. He was drafted in the first round by the Celts in 2015, 12 picks after Terry Rozier. But one day shy of 16 months later, he was cut by the club when the last roster spot came down to him or James Young and spent the next two-plus years bouncing around the G-League and making brief appearances with the Bulls (three games) and Rockets (five). Now he is back, having been officially signed to a two-way contract with the Celtics on Thursday. He will start out with the G-League’s Maine Red Claws, but will be working out with the C’s as the contract and schedule allow. “It was a surprise, because I really had to move on from that situation,” said Hunter in a teleconference with reporters. “Like, I really had to say, ‘Well, that’s over now, so … [Read more...] about R.J. Meet the Giants’ final two draft picks: QB Kyle Lauletta and DT R.J. McIntosh
KYLE LAULETTA Position: QB College: Richmond Age: 23 Height/Weight: 6-3/222 Strengths: Accurate, mobile, tall enough, leader, two-year college captain, intelligent, good footwork, fits ball into tight windows, comfortable throwing on the run. Weaknesses: Arm strength and ball velocity frequently questioned, tends loft deep balls too high, might not be able to make all NFL throws. R.J. McINTOSH Position: DT College: Miami Age: 21 (22 in June) Height/Weight: 6-5/286 Strengths: Pretty good athlete, quick feet, can slide in and outside, good interior tackler, played on a turnover-heavy and confident Hurricanes defense, special teams value (two blocked kicks last season). Weaknesses: Has to get stronger, questions about whether he should have stayed in college one more year to prepare for NFL battle in trenches. GIANTS FINAL DRAFT BOARD Round 1, Pick 2 (2nd overall): Saquon Barkley, RB, Penn State University Round 2, Pick 2 (34th overall): Will Hernandez, OG, UTEP … [Read more...] about Meet the Giants’ final two draft picks: QB Kyle Lauletta and DT R.J. Giants nab Miami DT R.J. McIntosh in the 5th round
The Giants followed their fourth-round pick of Richmond quarterback Kyle Lauletta by picking Miami defensive tackle R.J. McIntosh 139th overall in the fifth round, the second defensive tackle they've taken in this 2018 NFL Draft. McIntosh, a 6-5, 286 pound Hurricane, is considered athletic possibly enough to move both inside and outside depending on the down. He had 52 tackles, 12.5 for loss, 2.5 sacks and seven pass breakups in 13 games in his final college season as a junior. And he received second-team All-ACC honors. McIntosh joins fellow Miami product Olivier Vernon along the Giants' defensive front seven. The Giants are creating an interesting rotation on the defensive line, if not a logjam, with Damon Harrion, Dalvin Tomlinson, third-round pick B.J. Hill out of N.C. State and now McIntosh, too, all at tackle position. Sign up for BREAKING NEWS Emails privacy policy Thanks for subscribing! Send a … [Read more...] about Giants nab Miami DT R.J.
