Olly Alexander ’s role in the HBO Max series It’s a Sin introduced the British pop star to a whole new audience, many of whom may not be as familiar with his musical output. EXCLUSIVE : The dating genre continues to be one of the hottest genres in unscripted television and there’s a new format on the market: Spanish-language series La Máscara Del Amor ( The Mask of Love ). The original series, which is hosted by Angélica Vale, star of the Mexican adaptation of Ugly Betty, who also briefly appeared in the ABC version, has been greenlit by Estrella TV . The series, which is currently in production at Estrella Studios in Burbank, CA, has been handed a 44-episode order. It is centered on a single man or woman being wooed through games and challenges by five masked suitors. The contestants move through the challenges with Vale serving as both host and confidante. At the end, it is ultimately up to the main contestant to decide between love or the cash prize at the end of each episode. Calm , the Los Angeles based mental-health focused company and eponymous app, has hired Netflix ’s Monica Austin and TikTok ’s Greg Justice as VPs of, respectively, marketing and content. They will report to co-founders and CEOs Michael Acton Smith and Alex Tew as Calm continues to invest in original and editorial content. Calm, launched in 2012, became the first mental health unicorn (a privately held startup valued at over $1 billion) in early 2019 and has over 100 million downloads to date, averaging 100,000 new users daily. Last summer, HBO Max ordered A World of Calm , a ten-episode series narrated by Kate Winslet, Priyanka Chopra Joas, Mahershala Ali, Idris Elba, Oscar Isaac, Nicole Kidman, Zoë Kravitz, Lucy Liu, Cillian Murphy, and Keanu Reeves. EXCLUSIVE : Oliver Hudson , the actor who has starred in series including Rules of Engagement, Nashville and Scream Queens , is set to front and produce non-scripted format World’s Best Dad (w/t) after his new production company Bronco Productions struck a first-look deal with Jupiter Entertainment . Snapped producer Jupiter is developing the project, which does not yet have a broadcaster attached, with Hudson and his producing partner Josh Algra through a co-production partnership. Under the deal, Jupiter will have exclusive rights to Bronco’s slate of lifestyle and adventure formats within the documentary and unscripted space.
