UPDATED with ITV Entertainment statement: WGA has issued a strike notice against ABC ’s quiz show The Chase , from ITV America. “Per Working Rule 8, no Writers Guild member shall accept employment on The Chase , effective immediately,” the guild wrote in a letter to members. “ITV America has refused to apply the full terms of the Minimum Basic Agreement (MBA) to all seasons of The Chase going forward – and writers on The Chase , and the Guild at large, refuse to accept an agreement that would undermine writers of future seasons.” ABC’s The Chase , a remake of British game show, features the stars of Jeopardy! The Greatest of All Time , James Holzhauer, Ken Jennings and Brad Rutter. Hosted by Sara Haines, it recently aired its initial order of nine episodes. It has not been renewed for a second season though there may be additional produced episodes from Season 1. The 73rd annual Writers Guild Awards were held virtually on March 21, 2021. The ceremony was streamed privately for invitees and was hosted by Kal Penn. The Best original screenplay award went to the feminist revenge thriller Promising Young Woman . Sacha Baron Cohen’s comedy Borat Subsequent Moviefilm won Outstanding Adapted Screenplay. Promising Young Woman ’s writer-director Emerald Fennell said in her speech, "I wish I could be in the room and see everyone in person. As it is, I will say thank from my bleak writers room in England." Accepting the award for The Borat sequel, Sacha Cohen quipped of the film's many nominees and said, "I can't help but think that we won it because 60 percent of the Writers Guild worked on this movie." The Marathi version of Kaun Banega Crorepati , Kon Honaar Crorepati Season 5 is all set to go on-air soon on Sony Marathi. Interestingly, Sachin Khedekar who had hosted its season 1 and 2, is back for the fifth season of the quiz show. The makers are planning some interesting changes in the game's format. Actor Sachin Khedekar , who has been roped in to host the Marathi version of Kaun Banega Crorepati ( KBC ) , is excited but also nervous about stepping into the shoes of megastar Amitabh Bachchan , the host of the popular TV quiz show in Hindi for several seasons. Khedekar, who is a veteran of Marathi films, has also done Hindi movies like Astitva , Singham and remake version of Agneepath . "When I got this opportunity there was no question of saying no. Rather I was happy to accept the offer. It is a huge honour to do the popular show in Marathi. But it is also a challenge," he told in an interview.
