Helen McCrory , the award-winning Peaky Blinders actress who also appeared in His Dark Materials and the Harry Potter and James Bond film franchises, died today in London. She was 52. McCrory’s husband, the Billions actor Damian Lewis , announced her death on Twitter. He said she died peacefully at home after a “heroic battle” with cancer. Helen McCrory , who died of cancer on Friday at age 52 , blazed during a multi-decade career in film, TV and onstage, with memorable roles including playing the lead in the Channel 4/Masterpiece Theatre miniseries Anna Karenina , portraying Narcissa Malfoy in three Harry Potter movies and most recently starring as Aunt Polly in Netflix and the BBC’s hit period gangster series Peaky Blinders . The London-born actress, whose first screen credit was in 1993 in the Brit TV comedy Full Stretch about a limo service (it lasted one season), more recently appeared in BBC/HBO series His Dark Materials , in which she voiced Lord Asriel’s dæmon Stelmaria, and political drama Roadkill alongside Hugh Laurie. Mari Törőcsik, one of Hungary’s most prominent actors who won Best Actress at the Cannes Film Festival and starred in two Oscar-nominated films, died on Friday in Budapest after a long illness. She was 85. Törőcsik’s first international appearance was at the 1956 Cannes Film Festival where she starred in Palme d’Or contender Körhinta ( Merry-Go-Round ), from director Zoltán Fábri. In that film, she played a young farmer girl who falls in love with a peasant boy against her father’s wishes. Francois Truffaut , who was then a journalist with the weekly Arts, said he would have given her the Best Actress Award and French poet Jean Cocteau also praised her talent. Felix Silla , best known as the gibberish-spouting Cousin Itt on the 1960s TV sitcom The Addams Family , died today from pancreatic cancer. He was 84 and died in Las Vegas, according to a tweet from Gil Gerard, who costarred with him on the 1979-81 NBC series Buck Rogers in the 25th Century . Silla donned a full-body hairpiece, sunglasses and a bowler hat to achieve the role of Cousin Itt, who could only be understood by members of the Addams Family, thanks to his strange mumbling. The role was one of several where Silla’s face went unseen, including appearances as robot Twiki on Buck Rogers and as a hang-gliding Ewok in Star Wars: Episode VI — Return of the Jedi . One role where he could be seen was as the villain Litvak, who took on George Segal’s Sam Spade Jr. in The Maltese Falcon sequel The Black Bird (1975).
