EXCLUSIVE: Oppenheimer, A Quiet Place Part II and Peaky Blinders star Cillian Murphy is embarking on his next project with the feature adaptation of Claire Keegan’s acclaimed novel Small Things Like These . Murphy will star in and produce the film that’s been greenlighted by Ben Affleck and Matt Damon ’s Artists Equity , which will finance the project. Principal photography is underway in Ireland. Ciarán Hinds and Emily Watson are also starring in the drama whose source material has been likened to a Dickens tale. The story takes place over Christmas in 1985, when devoted father Bill Furlong (Murphy) discovers the startling secrets being kept by the convent in his town, and some shocking truths about his own life as well. Carrie Budoff Brown is expanding her role at NBC News , leading the network’s politics and elections while retaining oversight of Meet the Press with Chuck Todd. Budoff Brown will have the title of senior vice president, politics. She joined the network in 2021 as senior vice president of Meet the Press , having served as editor of Politico. In a note to staff, Rebecca Blumenstein, president, editorial for NBC News, wrote that Budoff Brown’s new role “is a natural extension of her skillful leadership since her arrival. Cillian Murphy ’s final turn as Tommy Shelby in the Peaky Blinders television series has earned him his first BAFTA TV Awards nomination. The actor will compete in the Leading Actor category, receiving recognition for six seasons of work in BBC1’s hit gangster drama. His only previous nomination from BAFTA was for the Rising Star prize at the 2007 Film Awards. The woebegone Cleveland Browns are hoping to goose their social media presence with a touch of Jake Paul magic. The team, last in the NFL’s AFC North standings at 6-9, is hoping the YouTube star and undefeated boxer can turn their season to solid gold with his knack for promotion. He has more than 20 million YouTube subscribers and 21.5 million more on Instagram. Paul, a Cleveland native, will not suit up to play, the team emphasized. Paul announced his new gig with an Instagram post in which the team’s EVP JW Johnson is seen holding up a jersey with Paul’s name. Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown will have her first novel published by William Morrow , an imprint of HarperCollins , this fall, the publishing house announced today. Titled Nineteen Steps , the novel is described by the publisher as an “epic story of love, loss, and secrets” that tells the story of 18-year-old Nellie Morris, who lives with her family in Bethnal Green during the Second World War. After Nellie’s chance encounter with an American airman stationed nearby, a terrible incident occurs during an air raid with catastrophic consequences. The owners of the nightclub where Chris Brown and Drake brawled last year are doing whatever they can to get out of paying Tony Parker for his injuries ... saying the two rappers should cut him a check if he wins his lawsuit ... and not them. Parker, an NBA star with the San Antonio Spurs, was one of several people who claim they were injured in the June 2012 melee that went down at W.i.P. and he filed a $20 million lawsuit against the club shortly thereafter. But the owners of W.i.P. (who are facing several lawsuits) filed docs last week in New York saying Parker's beef should be with Brown and Drake ... claiming they were the ones who "contributed to, instigated, participated and/or engaged" in the fight. The club wants any and all damages awarded to Parker to come from Brown and Drake. The case is still pending.
