Andrew Lloyd Webber Super Chill About King Charles’ Coronation Music
Getty You'd think Andrew Lloyd Webber would be feeling the pressure of having to craft King Charles ' coronation music -- but the dude is pretty relaxed ... hilariously so, in fact. The Broadway legend -- responsible for the numbers heard in "Cats," "The Phantom of the Opera" and others -- dished to WaPo about the Royal assignment he agreed to about a month ago ... namely, composing THE musical piece that'll be playing while KC gets crowned in May. Getty It's quite the task, and yet ... ALW sounds super chill about it. His interview here makes it seem like the gig is just another day in the office. He says, "I have written quite a lot of choral music. [M]y father was a very distinguished church organist and choirmaster and the choral tradition is not something that is new to me in a way, because it’s been there all my life." In other words, he's been there ... done that. Now, he's just doing it for the King. As WaPo notes, Lloyd … [Read more...] about Andrew Lloyd Webber Super Chill About King Charles’ Coronation Music
CNN Zeroes In On Primetime Show With Gayle King And Charles Barkley
CNN is zeroing in on Gayle King and Charles Barkley to host a weekly primetime show for the network, as chairman and CEO Chris Licht aims to revitalize the ratings-challenged nighttime lineup. The Wall Street Journal reported that a deal with King is being finalized, but sources said that talks are ongoing with the two personalities. The intent has been to add an extra bit of star power to its 9 PM ET primetime hour, which has lacked a permanent host since Chris Cuomo was fired in December, 2021. That time slot has been among the most competitive on cable news. King and Barkley would be a bit of an unconventional choice for the slot, but the plans also would go against the cable news trend of scheduling a five-night-a-week personality in primetime hours. CNN is said to have talked to two dozen or so names about filling at least one night a week in that time slot, with plans to fill remaining nights with special events like town halls and “big get” interviews with the … [Read more...] about CNN Zeroes In On Primetime Show With Gayle King And Charles Barkley
Harry And Meghan’s Eviction From UK Home Is Just The Beginning, According To Palace Insiders
The subject of exactly how many homes the British monarch owns has often been the cause of a raised eyebrow – as, over many years, there has invariably been a spare house or country pile lying around and available for any family member deemed in need. However, that looks set to change with the arrival of King Charles on the throne. National press reported last week that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex had been asked to vacate their British home near Windsor Castle, and now the Times of London reports other family members will receive the same news. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were informed in January they would no longer have access to Frogmore Cottage, their post-marital home in the UK, although it has been intimated they will be permitted to stay there, should they decide to travel to the UK for Harry’s father’s Coronation in May. Now it seems the new King plans to phase out subsidised rents for other family members, as a way of reducing costs and raising … [Read more...] about Harry And Meghan’s Eviction From UK Home Is Just The Beginning, According To Palace Insiders
No Place For Harry And Meghan In Coronation Procession, Leaked Palace Plans Reveal
Leaked rehearsal plans for the upcoming Coronation of King Charles III reveal that there is currently no place for Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle in the procession to follow the king’s crowning in Westminster Abbey. This revelation by The Times of London follows reports that Harry and Meghan have been invited to the ceremony taking place on May 6 in the UK capital. According to the plans, the King’s shamed brother, the Duke of York, has no place in the royal procession, and his daughters Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie will not be taking part either. In an event estimated at about the third of the size of HM The Queen’s in 1953, it appears there is a place for “working royals only.” These include the King’s sister the Princess Royal and her husband Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence, the newly titled Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, and a few other adult royal cousins. One person who will be joining in is the youngest child of the Prince and Princess of Wales, … [Read more...] about No Place For Harry And Meghan In Coronation Procession, Leaked Palace Plans Reveal

Fox News Tops March And Q1 Ratings, But News Network Audiences Continue To Drop Versus 2022; CNN Sees Steep Primetime Decline
Fox News topped March ratings , but all of the major news networks saw double digit erosion from the same month in 2022. CNN saw some of the steepest declines, with it primetime audience down 61% from March of 2022, and dropping 73% in the 25-54 demo. One factor: The lack of a dominant news story. The Ukraine war dominated the news cycle in the same period a year ago, and CNN actually saw a viewership spike back then. But the network has been trying to retool its 9 PM ET hour, scheduling special townhalls and one-on-one interviews. The network has said that the programming is a bit of an experiment that has not seen a full promotional push, while sources say it has been talking to figures like Gayle King and Charles Barkley about hosting a weekly show in the slot. The network also is launching an overhaul of its daytime lineup next month. While CNN beat MSNBC in the 25-54 primetime demo during the first quarter, it was edged out by the NBCU network during March. … [Read more...] about Fox News Tops March And Q1 Ratings, But News Network Audiences Continue To Drop Versus 2022; CNN Sees Steep Primetime Decline
