EASTENDERS' Lauren Branning and Peter Beale have been reunited at a wedding eight years after actors Madeline Duggan and Thomas Law left the show. The soap stars posed for a sweet snap at what appeared to be the reception stage of the happy day. Madeline, 23, wowed in a gorgeous green dress and silver heels. Her former co-star Thomas, 25, looked dapper in a suit and tie. Sharing the picture to Instagram, Madeline wrote: "Peter and Lauren bump into each other at a wedding eight years later." The actress played the role of Lauren on the soap until Jacqueline Jossa, now 25, took over in 2010. Her departure was part of a revamp by new executive producer Bryan Kirkwood. At the time, he said: "Maddie Duggan did a great job of playing the young Lauren Branning, and we wish her the very best of luck for the future." Thomas also starred in the soap until 2010 when his character left Albert Square. Shortly after leaving he said the door had been left "open" for his return. However, when his … [Read more...] about Eastenders’ original Lauren Branning and Peter Beale reunite at a wedding after BOTH leaving the soap eight years ago

Proud Mary is a rare project in Hollywood: an original action movie starring a 47-year-old woman of color. "When women get older in this business, they tend to send us out to pastures; meanwhile, you have Liam Neeson, however old he is, still kicking ass in Taken and Denzel Washington, who, at any given drop of a dime, will do an action film," says star Taraji P. Henson, who is more than a decade younger than both of those male actors. "Fuck that. If men can do it, why can't we? I feel like women get better as we age. Give us the same chances as you give men." In the Jan. 12 release, Henson — who grew up adoring the Rocky and Superman movies, as well as the '70s TV shows Bionic Woman and Charlie's Angels — plays an assassin whose life is altered by a pivotal kill. Since she didn't have much time to train for the Babak Najafi-directed flick due to her shooting schedule on Fox's Empire, the actress leaned on her previous training in weaponry (she played a cop for four seasons … [Read more...] about Taraji P. Proud Mary, which features “Empire” star Taraji P. Henson as a hitwoman, opens in theaters Friday, and it’s a safe bet that John Fogerty will not be in the audience. The rocker, who wrote the rock classic from which the movie takes its name, penned a scorching rebuke of the movie and its attempt to capitalize on the popularity of his song on Thursday. While he has not seen the film, his ire comes from seeing the words of the 1969 Creedence Clearwater Revival hit changed from “working for the man every night and day” to “killing for the man every night and day” on the movie poster, as well as the film's appropriation of his song title. In his statement, Fogerty says, “My songs are special to me. Precious. So it irks me when people seek to capitalize on the popularity of my music and the goodwill it has earned with the public for their own financial gain. Over the years, I have often found myself directly opposed to these uses. … This … [Read more...] about John Fogerty Slams ‘Proud Mary’ Film for Using His Song Title: “It Irks Me”
While Steven Spielberg’s The Post expands into theaters across America this weekend, and three new films also are entering wide release, Sony’s Jumanji: Welcome to The Jungle, which is entering its fourth weekend, is expected to easily outdistance the new challengers as it claims the top spot at the domestic box office during the course of the Martin Luther King holiday weekend.Jumanji, a PG-13-rated comedy/adventure starring Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart, demonstrated real staying power last weekend as it took in $37.2 million, and so conceivably could attract as much as another $30 million over the coming four-day weekend. It’s already crossed the $250 million mark domestically. The Post, which is being released by Fox, will be aiming for adult audiences interested in its politically-relevant account, written by Liz Hannah and Spotlight screenwriter Josh Singer, of how Washington Post publisher, Katharine Graham, played by Meryl Streep, and editor Ben Bradlee, … [Read more...] about Box Office Preview: ‘Jumanji’ Rules As ‘The Post’ Courts a Wider Audience
