5 minutes ago Game Of Thrones is my favorite show of all-time. It's so complicated, yet carefully organized. It features incredible acting performances, all-time musical scores and maybe the best cinematography in the history of television. I was invested in every single minute of it, even if I didn't always agree with the choices the creators made. Now that it's all over, I'm devastated. There's nothing else on television I look forward to with anywhere close to the same intensity. So, I'm going to do my best to cope by writing some more articles looking back. Let's start with the seasons. Perhaps my favorite Game Of Thrones-related debate that often crops up between fans is arguments about the best and worst seasons. I like these conversations because they're often a lens into each person's perspective and a good indication of why they actually watch the show. Are they coming for the slow burn of multi-episode schemes and clues that will pay off much later or are they coming for … [Read more...] about Every Game Of Thrones Season, Ranked Now That It’s All Over

“Game of Thrones” will air its series finale on Sunday, so we still don’t know how the show will end. But throughout eight seasons, the HBO series has included subtle and not-so-subtle hints of what’s to come. You’d be forgiven if you’ve forgotten most of these prophecies and predictions, some of which were included in the George R.R. Martin books that served as source material until Season 6. But it’s worth taking stock now: Which promises were fulfilled, which definitely won’t be, and which could still come to fruition? (Spoilers ahead!) Maggy the Frog. This comes from a Season 5 flashback scene, in which a witch (Maggy the Frog) tells young Cersei her future. After having a taste of Cersei’s blood, Maggy predicts “you’ll never wed the prince” but “you’ll wed the king.” “You’ll be queen, for a time. And comes another, younger, more beautiful to cast you down and take all you hold … [Read more...] about ‘Game of Thrones’ prophecies and visions: What’s still in play?

Welcome to Final Path, a regular feature leading up to the final season of HBO's Game of Thrones. In every Final Path, The Hollywood Reporter's resident Westeros expert Josh Wigler will offer a character-by-character deep dive of their journey through seven seasons, as well as what can be expected in the upcoming eighth and final season. Up next: Melisandre. "I have looked into the eye of this island — and what I saw was beautiful." These are not the words of Melisandre of Asshai (Carice van Houten). They are the words of John Locke of Lost. Despite coming from a very different genre heavyweight, the viewpoints of Melisandre and Locke are linked all the same. Both are fanatical, both believe in visions, both buy their own hype often at their own peril, and both know a thing or two about smoke monsters. As one of the most mystical characters in Thrones, Melisandre's warnings of the future have not always played out as outlined — but they have often played out in … [Read more...] about ‘Game of Thrones’ Final Path: The Journey of Melisandre
