Foo Fighters won every Grammy they were nominated for at the ceremony on Sunday, April 3. The band won Best Rock Performance for “Making a Fire,” Best Rock Song for “Waiting on a War,” and Best Rock Album for Medicine at Midnight . The wins reportedly make them the most-awarded American band in Grammy history. There was a brief montage to celebrate the band’s drummer Taylor Hawkins , who died on March 25. The experience was especially personal for Maverick City Music co-founder Tony Brown, who would visit his mother behind bars in Staten Island as a kid. “One of my first memories of being in New York was visiting my mother when I was nine years old,” Brown said. “Me and the guys [in Maverick] have been impacted by mass incarceration and the issues concerning that for a long time, so this has been an important project for us.” It’s also an important project for Franklin. Patrons of The Stag Inn, a family-owned pub in Hinton Charterhouse, Bath, got a special treat when Coldplay frontman Chris Martin popped in and decided to give a surprise performance of the band’s 2014 hit “A Sky Full of Stars.” Coming off the North American leg of Coldplay’s Music of the Spheres world tour , Martin was filmed performing a piano-backed version of the song at the pub after meeting some guests who were there planning a wedding. “I’ll just do a bit of it, okay?” he told the group before launching into the opening notes of the song. The two artists who sued Ed Sheeran for copyright infringement over “Shape of You” have been ordered to pay the pop star over $1.1 million in legal fees, Billboard reports. After Sheeran prevailed in the copyright suit, lawyers for the grime artist Sami Chokri and his co-writer Ross O’Donoghue tried to argue that their clients shouldn’t have to cover the legal expenses of Sheeran and his co-defendants — songwriters Steven McCutcheon and Johnny McDaid — due to their “conduct… both before and during the proceedings.” Judge Antony Zacaroli, however, rebuffed those claims and said Sheeran and co. were entitled to an “interim payment” of £916,200 (just over $1.1 million). Despite today ruling, that total sum for legal expenses could still change. Another judge will oversee and assess the costs and damages due, and could decide to nix some, thus lowering how much Chokri and O’Donoghue owe.
