‘The Walking Dead’ EP Gale Anne Hurd Eyeballs Midseason Shocker, Where Season 6 Is Going & More ‘Fear The Walking Dead’
SPOILER ALERT: This story contains details of tonight’s Season 6 midseason return of The Walking Dead The Walking Dead ‘s midseason return tonight had all the drama, spine-chillers and shockers that most series would save for a season finale. Back for the second part of its sixth season, AMC ’s original zombie apocalypse blockbuster finally unleashed one of the most wrenching twists out of the Robert Kirkman comic series on which it is based – and we’re not talking about the arrival of Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Negan with his barb-wired baseball bat, yet. With explosive results and at great cost, tonight’s Greg Nicotero-directed “No Way Out” picked right up from the post-credits scene of last fall’s winter finale as Negan’s gang make their armed and threatening presence known to Norman Reedus’ Daryl plus Abraham and Sasha, who barely escaped with their lives. As the core survivors remained scattered, Rick Grimes, some of his group and a few of the residents of … [Read more...] about ‘The Walking Dead’ EP Gale Anne Hurd Eyeballs Midseason Shocker, Where Season 6 Is Going & More ‘Fear The Walking Dead’
‘The Leftovers’ Opens Season 2 With Early 713K Tuned In To Premiere In L+SD
With a good-ish portion of Season 1’s cast gone, and a somewhat sunnier reboot, the Season 2 opener of HBO ’s rapture-drama The Leftovers averaged 713,000 total and 413,000 demo viewers Sunday in Live+Same Day ratings for its time-slot premiere. On June 29, 2014, the series premiere of the high-concept post-rapture drama pulled in 1.8M viewers in its 10 PM slot on a Sunday. (Damon Lindelof‘s The Leftovers originally had been set to debut June 15 of that year , following the Season 4 finale of Game Of Thrones . But when the it took an unexpected hiatus after Episode 6, with HBO calling it “a short hiatus to prep our final episodes”), it lost that cushy launch platform, instead getting slotted after an episode of True Blood.) That difference between its S1 launch and S2’s starter is a precipitous 60% drop. HBO has, for some time, declined to discuss L+SD ratings, arguing, as do many other TV networks, the stats are irrelevant in today’s viewing environment. Others … [Read more...] about ‘The Leftovers’ Opens Season 2 With Early 713K Tuned In To Premiere In L+SD
Giants’ Close Victory Over Cowboys Gives ‘Sunday Night Football’ Most Watched Primetime Game This Season – Update
2nd UPDATE, 2:30 PM: Reports of the NFL being knocked down this season may have been a bit premature – at least according to the results of last night’s New York Giants bruising 10-7 win over the Dallas Cowboys. With the final numbers in, a season record 26.5 million viewers tuned in for the Sunday Night Football NFC East match-up between the two big market and nationally followed teams. That’s the best any primetime NFL game has done on any network this season and best Week 14 audience the NFL has had since 1989 when ABC’s Monday Night Football pulled in a TV crowd of 26.502 million to watch the then L.A. Rams and the SF 49ers clash. In a season of declining NFL numbers and too many blowouts or lame scoring games, the Cowboys, along with the Patriots and a few other teams, have proven the get well pill for the league. For instance, the overall most watched game of the 2016/17 season so far is the November 13 afternoon 35-30 game between the Cowboys and the … [Read more...] about Giants’ Close Victory Over Cowboys Gives ‘Sunday Night Football’ Most Watched Primetime Game This Season – Update
‘The Walking Dead’ Ratings Down From 2016 Series High In Season 8 Debut
After all the hype, the Season 6 cliffhanger finale and the double death of the Season 7 opener, nobody expected The Walking Dead to return this year at record heights, even if the AMC blockbuster was celebrating its 100th episode. So Sunday’s season opener, “Mercy,” took a double-digit ratings dive and met expectations, so to speak. The Season 8 premiere of the zombie apocalypse series snagged 11.4 million total viewers and 6.5 million adults 18-49 for a 5.0 rating. That’s down 40% in the demo and 33% in total audience from the Season 7 opener of October 23, 2016 . When some straggler adjustments are made, the Season 7 debut is virtually even with TWD’ s Season 5 opener for an all-time season high. Overall, with a slight 5% uptick in viewers and 1% in the key demo over the latter part of Season 7 averages, the Season 8 premiere is the show’s fourth-best debut yet. Eight seasons in, TWD can still hold its head high that for the past six years it is and remains … [Read more...] about ‘The Walking Dead’ Ratings Down From 2016 Series High In Season 8 Debut
