‘Sherlock’ Star Amanda Abbington Says “Nepotism” Helped Her Land Role In BBC Drama
Amanda Abbington has revealed she believes “nepotism” helped land her role in hit BBC drama Sherlock . Abbington was cast as Mary Watson, the wife of Sherlock Holmes’ friend and detective partner Doctor John Watson in 2014. At the time, Abbington was in a long-term relationship with Martin Freeman , who played Watson. “Because I was with Martin at the time, there was a lot of [accusations of] nepotism being banded about,” she told the Full Disclosure podcast. “It’s true, it was that. “Both Mark [Gatiss] and Steven [Moffat, the show’s writers] said they were trying to figure out who the best person would be to play Mary and they thought it would be the person who was going out with him. “It made sense. And we’d worked together on many things.” Sherlock , which starred Benedict Cumberbatch as the genius sleuth, ran on the BBC and PBS Masterpiece between 2010 and 2017 and was created by Moffat and Gatiss. Abbington played Mary for three years from 2014 before … [Read more...] about ‘Sherlock’ Star Amanda Abbington Says “Nepotism” Helped Her Land Role In BBC Drama

Disneyland Guests In Anaheim Experience Real Snow In California Theme Park As Winter Storm Continues
It was not Elsa from Frozen making it snow at the Disneyland Resort today, it was a winter storm that has continued to hit California that made the theme park guests get a chilly surprise from the sky. Social media was abuzz on Wednesday, Mar. 1 after snow started to fall in Anaheim . Laughing Place caught the snowfall in a video right at the entrance to the theme park noting that it was “real snow, not soap.” This was in reference to the nighttime fireworks spectacle during the holidays where “snow” descends upon guests experiencing the show on Main Street. The same site shared another video with the snow falling in Downtown Disney. Snow at such low elevations is rare for residents of Orange County ’s Anaheim, home of Disneyland. However, records show that it has snowed in the city before but for that we would have to go back all the way to the year 1882. The Anaheim Gazette reported that on Jan. 12 of 1882, there was an “unprecedented storm” that gave the … [Read more...] about Disneyland Guests In Anaheim Experience Real Snow In California Theme Park As Winter Storm Continues

Aldarondo previously directed and produced the feature docs Memories of a Penitent Heart and Landfall , both of which were co-produced by the award-winning PBS series, POV . The former title world premiering at Tribeca picks up 25 years after Miguel’s death from AIDs, as his niece cracks open a Pandora’s box of unresolved family drama, by tracking … [Read more...] about UTA Signs Cecillia Aldarondo, Filmmaker Behind SXSW-Premiering Documentary ‘You Were My First Boyfriend’
NBA’s Pat Beverley Blames Today’s Rap Music for Ja Morant’s Behavior
Getty Ja Morant is a product of the gangsta rap he hears every day -- so says his elder NBA statesman Patrick Beverly , who also thinks the embattled All-Star can make a proper comeback. Pat Bev recently weighed in on the Ja situation on his Barstool Sports podcast, and pinpointed today's rap music as the catalyst for the 22-year-old's shocking downward spiral. PB said, "I think music has a lot to do with this now. Especially with this culture, everybody holding a gun in the video is okay, bling on your teeth that's okay, pants halfway down your ass, that's okay" The current Chicago Bull also valued music from "back in the day" over today's tunes ... "The culture now is ‘shoot 'em up, bang, bang, shoot 'em up, bend you over, I got this amount of money, I’m on private jets, that that that.’ That’s what the younger generation is." Bev also speculated had Eminem rapped about totin' guns, his rabid fan base would've followed suit, but instead, … [Read more...] about NBA’s Pat Beverley Blames Today’s Rap Music for Ja Morant’s Behavior
