‘Stranger Things’ Season 4 Is Back — Bigger, Bloodier and More Bloated Than Ever
Stranger Things is one of Netflix’s defining series. But as the Eighties horror pastiche returns this week after a nearly three-year absence, the show and the streamer seem to be going in opposite directions. Netflix is contracting; Stranger Things is expanding. It’s been a rough spring for Netflix. Subscriber growth has slowed, and actual subscriber losses are predicted later this year, which sent the streaming giant’s stock price stumbling. Employees have been laid off, and there’s a plan for a cheaper ad-supported subscription tier later this year to staunch the bleeding. There have been other belt-tightening measures in recent years, particularly when it comes to how long shows are allowed to run, and how quickly cancellations are handed down. Stranger Things , though, just keeps getting bigger. This delayed fourth season has been split into two chunks: seven episodes now, two more in July. The cast is bigger — both in numbers, and in height, where Finn Wolfhard’s Mike … [Read more...] about ‘Stranger Things’ Season 4 Is Back — Bigger, Bloodier and More Bloated Than Ever
Tom Cruise Makes James Corden His Reluctant Goose on a Wild ‘Top Gun’ Jet Ride
Tom Cruise made James Corden his extremely reluctant Goose stand-in as he took the Late Late Show host out for a ride in a pair of fighter jets to mark the release of Top Gun: Maverick . The segment began with Cruise picking up Corden at the airport at five in the morning, then taking him for a topsy-turvy ride on a 1944 airplane. But the real fun — or horror, for Corden — began when Cruise started prepping Corden for a ride on a much faster, modern jet. When Corden tried to run off, Cruise stopped him and insisted the comedian was his Goose — the character played by Anthony Edwards in the first Top Gun flick. As Corden quickly noted, however, “When you say, ‘I’m your Goose,’ it makes me feel excited, and then I realize that Goose dies at the end of the film.” Cruise then eased Corden’s anxiety by insisting he was only Goose from the movie’s first half. “That’s the Goose I want to be,” joked Corden. “I want to be in a bar, singing ‘You’ve Lost That … [Read more...] about Tom Cruise Makes James Corden His Reluctant Goose on a Wild ‘Top Gun’ Jet Ride
Alec Baldwin Weighs in on United Fight Video, Talks Workplace Safety
Getty Composite Alec Baldwin is weighing in on workplace safety -- not on a film set -- but at the airport, where a brutal beatdown occurred between a passenger and a United Airlines employee. The video, which went viral Monday, shows former NFLer, Brendan Langley , lay the employee out with a nasty right hook. Langley was later arrested for simple assault and the employee was hospitalized and later terminated. Upon closer look, it does appear the United employee was first to make physical contact with the passenger ... as shown in the first second of the video . However, Baldwin apparently sees things differently. According to The Shaderoom, Baldwin left a comment on Instagram about the video, saying, "The guy working at the airport is the victim. He came to work to do a job. The other guy, with his big mouth, is guilty of workplace abuse, where people come to work with an expectation of safety, even civility. This a**hole who hit this guy should … [Read more...] about Alec Baldwin Weighs in on United Fight Video, Talks Workplace Safety

‘Yellowjackets’ Creators, Melanie Lynskey, Tawny Cypress Celebrate “F*cked Up Women” – Contenders TV
Showtime ’s hit drama Yellowjackets is a multi-generational story that touches on hints of cannibalism and the supernatural. For co-creator Ashley Lyle , it’s a universal tale of flawed women. The show tells parallel stories about a high school soccer team surviving after a plane crash in 1996, and the survivors as adults in the present. “Our goal was to take this high concept that would suck people in and use it to disguise our story about f*cked up women,” Lyle said on a Deadline Contenders panel on Saturday at Paramount Studios. As grown-up survivor Shauna, Melanie Lynskey said we’ve only seen the beginning of her character’s unraveling. Shauna embarked on an affair and killed a rabbit in Season 1. Lynskey also said she was ready to take a break after having a baby but Yellowjackets was too good to pass up. “I love that I’m playing someone who on the surface is an ordinary housewife, and then goes in so many directions,” Lynskey said. “There’s still so … [Read more...] about ‘Yellowjackets’ Creators, Melanie Lynskey, Tawny Cypress Celebrate “F*cked Up Women” – Contenders TV
Aerosmith’s Amazing Road Back
S teven Tyler enters the hotel room and strips down to his black cracker – a sort of G-string. It’s three in the morning – four hours after Aerosmith wrapped up a show before 37,000 fans at Toronto’s Skydome – and the band’s hyperactive lead singer is back at the Four Seasons Hotel ready to do a little more performing. After contorting himself on the room’s double bed for a few minutes, he finally achieves his desired position: bound and gagged with an attractive female friend of the band’s riding him bareback. Someone turns on a video camera to record the moment for posterity. Tyler’s famous big lips – which rival Mick Jagger ‘s or even Carly Simon ‘s – break into a wide Cheshire-cat grin. Then suddenly his expression turns more serious, and he begins a series of muffled orgasmic squeals. This is, in all likelihood, not the first time that the forty-two-year-old Tyler has found himself in this sort of situation. In fact, to hear Tyler and the other members of Aerosmith … [Read more...] about Aerosmith’s Amazing Road Back
