At this point in his career, the stories of Tom Cruise doing his own stunts are almost legendary. The building jump gone wrong for his latest film “Mission: Impossible – Fallout” — the take of which ended up in the final film — has been a favorite on this press tour. But truth be told, that stunt, during which Cruise broke his ankle, isn’t even the most daring in the film. Cruise told Jimmy Fallon during an appearance on “The Tonight Show” that jumping from one building to the next was suppose to be an easy one.In “Mission: Impossible – Fallout,” which currently has a 98 percent rating on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, Cruise’s IMF agent Ethan Hunt is caught in multiple chases (including one in a helicopter), free-climbs a cliff (again), does a HALO jump (high altitude; low open) out of a plane at 25,000 feet, and he runs. A lot.And yes, at 56 years old, and after 22 years of “Mission: Impossible” … [Read more...] about Did Tom Cruise *really* do all the stunts in ‘Mission: Impossible – Fallout’?
Outsiders tom cruise
Making a "Mission: Impossible" movie is always about topping the last blockbuster. Tom Cruise, performing the majority of his own stunts, has made death-defying film history in each installment. In the first one, he was suspended horizontally from the ceiling like a plank. Upping the ante in the second movie, he climbed a sheer cliff. In No. 3, he leapt off a skyscraper; in the fourth chapter, he scaled the world's tallest building, and in the fifth one, he clung to the outside of an airplane in flight. The sixth go-round — otherwise known as "Mission: Impossible – Fallout" — outdoes the others in dangerous and difficult ways too numerous to mention. But returning writer/director Christopher McQuarrie said Cruise's early focus in planning discussions wasn't on his training to pilot a helicopter or making a parachute jump from a cargo plane 5 miles high. It was his insistence to raise the bar on the unlikeliest aspect of a summer extravaganza: providing well developed … [Read more...] about For ‘Mission: Impossible’ director, anything’s possible with Tom Cruise: ‘There’s no telling him no’
10 minutes ago When Tom Cruise broke his ankle in gruesome fashion while filming a stunt last year on Mission: Impossible Fallout, it seemed like a huge blow to the film. With the star out of commission, production was temporarily shut down, and from the outside looking in, it seemed like getting this film to hit its release date and deliver in the way it was expected to was the real impossible mission. Yet as it turned out, Tom Cruise's injury was actually a good thing for Mission: Impossible Fallout because it gave everyone a much-needed break, as star Henry Cavill explained: So the seven-week break in production was a good thing because it allowed for everyone to get some much needed rest, although I imagine Tom Cruise wasn't thrilled about it at the time. It is kind of funny to think that everyone else was tired and thankful for the break, while Tom Cruise completed the shot and then proceeded to work like a madman to rehab himself and heal at an incredible rate to get back … [Read more...] about Henry Cavill Believes Tom Cruise’s Injury Was Actually A Good Thing For Mission: Impossible Fallout
15 minutes ago The Mission: Impossible franchise has long been known for its wild and dangerous stunt work. The first film has become iconic for the CIA headquarters infiltration scene, while Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation upped the ante by putting Tom Cruise on the outside of a plane. Now Christopher McQuarrie's Mission: Impossible - Fallout is going to up the ante even further by having Cruise perform a HALO (high-altitude low-opening) jump, and a newly-released clip from the sequence promises something genuinely amazing. Check it out, below! I suppose I should've warned you that this sequence is not for those who have a fear of heights. Mission: Impossible - Fallout looks seriously intense, and Ethan Hunt is going to take the title of the film a little too literally by falling out of the back of a plane. We already know that Tom Cruise actually performed the HALO jump for the film, so seeing it play out on the big screen should prove to be nothing less than exhilarating. … [Read more...] about Watch Tom Cruise Skydive In New Mission: Impossible Fallout Clip
7 minutes ago With every new Mission: Impossible movie comes some new absurd and seemingly impossible stunt performed by franchise star Tom Cruise. This summer's Mission: Impossible - Fallout is no different. Much of the discussion this time around has been about the crazy stunt where Tom Cruise jumped from one building to another and the gnarly injury he suffered performing it. Yet despite the injury, that stunt is perhaps only second on the danger and impressive scale. The actor performed a dangerous helicopter stunt all by himself for the film, and now a new video puts you inside the helicopter for a 360° view. Check it out below: A big part of what makes this stunt so impressive is that Tom Cruise is piloting the helicopter all by himself. The actor put in a lot of training hours to prepare himself to pull it off, and this really cool 360° video allows you to look all around the cabin to see that this isn't some movie magic. Tom Cruise is a legit helicopter pilot. … [Read more...] about New Mission: Impossible – Fallout Video Puts You In Tom Cruise’s Crazy Helicopter Stunt
