Michael Bay is in discussions with Sony Pictures to either direct or produce a film adaptation of Hunting El Chapo , an upcoming book about the Mexican drug cartel leader, Variety reports. Bay is currently in post-production on the fifth installment of the Transformers series, The Last Knight , which is out June 23rd. Hunting El Chapo: The Thrilling Inside Story of the American Lawman Who Captures the World’s Most-Wanted Drug Lord , out October 3rd, chronicles the manhunt for the infamous drug lord. “El Chapo,” real name Joaquín Archivaldo Guzmán Loera, evaded authorities for over a decade before his capture and extradition last year to the United States. Cole Merrell, a pseudonym for the DEA official who tracked the near-mythic drug kingpin for eight years, co-wrote the book with Douglas Century. Sharon Osbourne , the former co-host of CBS’ The Talk who left the daytime show last month after a heated on-air debate about racism, will get a chance to explain why when she guests on HBO ’s Real Time with Bill Maher this week. Osbourne will be Maher’s top-of-show solo interview on Friday’s episode, Real Time said today. The appearance will mark Osbourne’s first extended TV interview since the controversy — she was not part of Monday’s episode of The Talk devoted entirely to a discussion of the incident and racism in general.
