Frances Bean Cobain on Life After Kurt’s Death: An Exclusive Q&A
One summer a few years ago, Frances Bean Cobain worked as an intern in the New York offices of Rolling Stone . Frances – the daughter of Nirvana singer-guitarist Kurt Cobain and an executive producer of the new HBO documentary on his life, Kurt Cobain: Montage of Heck – was “a 15-year-old Goth kid, so stoked,” she recalls with a laugh during a recent interview for the cover story in our new issue . She remembers providing research assistance on a cover about the Jonas Brothers – and working in a cubicle across from a wall with a giant painting of Kurt. “Yeah,” Frances says with a grin and mock-exasperation, “looking at my dad every day.” ( Preview the cover story and listen to a previously unheard Cobain song here .) Legendary “Vulnerable” In ‘Godzilla’ Legal Battle Says Tossed Producers’ Lawyer
Just under a year from now, Legendary Pictures is set to face off at trial against producers Roy Lee , Dan Lin and Doug Davison in a battle over the trio being ejected from Godzilla . Having failed to keep the matter in arbitration, the studio used a motion filed last week to try to gut the producers’ claims of fraud in a cross-complaint, but the other side isn’t buying this latest move. “I think [Legendary is] very vulnerable,” says the producers’ main lawyer Stanton L. Stein of LA’s Liner Grode Stein Yankelevitz Sunshine Regenstreif & Taylor. “I think they will do anything to slow down this going to trial, just like they have tried and failed in the past. They needed that property, and they used us to get it. They specified $1.3 million, first-dollar gross and a producer credit,” he adds of the deal his clients had with the studio to shepherd the Godzilla reboot all the way to the big screen. “They promised it and never delivered.” Related: … [Read more...] about Legendary “Vulnerable” In ‘Godzilla’ Legal Battle Says Tossed Producers’ Lawyer
#MakeTheBatfleckMovie Trends as DC Fans Campaign for Ben Affleck to Get His Batman Movie
The hashtag #MakeTheBatfleckMovie is trending on Twitter as DC fans demand to see Ben Affleck's Batman get his own solo movie. After first appearing in Zack Snyder's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice , Affleck returned in the Justice League crossover along with the recently released four-hour Snyder Cut. While he was at one point set to get his own solo movie set in the DCEU, the project has since morphed into the standalone movie The Batman with Robert Pattinson playing the part. Feeling that Ben Affleck still has so much more to deliver as Snyder's version of the Dark Knight, thousands of fans are now campaigning on social media for Warner Bros. to #MakeTheBatfleckMovie. There are no current plans at the studio for such a project to ever happen, but as the #ReleaseTheSnyderCut campaign ultimately became a success, fans are hoping to see Batfleck's movie come to fruition as well.
