The Maharashtra government on Monday sought to clear the air over the state's inquiry into the tweets by Sachin Tendulkar, Lata Mangeshkar and others over farmers protest. Home minister Anil Deshmukh told reporters that his recent remark on the celebrity tweets row were distorted. He reiterated that the government was only 'probing the BJP IT cell.' Anil Deshmukh said, “My earlier statement regarding the tweets by celebrities was presented in a distorted manner. I never meant that the inquiry was going to be of celebrities. Lata Mangeshkar is godlike for us. And every countryman respects Sachin Tendulkar. There is no question of their inquiry.” He went on to add, "What I had meant was that inquiry will be done into the role of the BJP IT cell and whether they had provided the script for the tweets for the celebrities." Breaking News Getty The Houston Police Department says it's now launched a criminal investigation into Deshaun Watson ... this after a complainant formally filed a report against the NFL star on Friday. Cops did NOT say the nature of the allegations against the QB ... and it's unclear if they're related to the claims of sexual assault that Watson is facing in a multitude of civil lawsuits. In a statement Friday, though, Watson's attorney implied they may be. "We welcome this long overdue development," Rusty Hardin said. "Now we will learn the identity of at least one accuser. Longtime CBS Television Stations execs Peter Dunn and David Friend have departed the company in the wake of a report disclosing allegations of racist and abusive behavior. Dunn was president of the division and Friend was SVP of News. They were accused of fostering a corporate culture in which female managers were bullied and Black journalists were denied opportunities. Bryon Rubin will continue to run the stations group and Kim Godwin will retain oversight of stations’ news operations until new leadership is in place. “The external investigation into CBS Television Stations management that is being conducted by Keisha-Ann Gray at Proskauer Rose remains ongoing,” CBS said in a statement. “We are thankful to those who have shared their experiences and knowledge with the investigators thus far.
