USA Wrestling is responding to the growing number of Olympic sex abuse scandals by toughening up their policies towards journalists covering their events, according to The Washington Post. On Tuesday, USA Wrestling announced all journalists would now be required to undergo background checks and take classes as part of the credentialing process effective immediately, requiring even pre-credentialed media to reapply to cover the U.S. Open Wrestling Championships — which takes place next week in Las Vegas. Rich Bender, USA Wrestling’s executive director, said the move was aimed at creating a “safe environment for kids” and making sure all people who come in contact with their participants are vetted. The government is splashing out £13.5m on a new cyber centre that will help fund British cyber security start-ups in the wake of threats from Russia and North Korea. Located in London's Olympic Park, near to the east London's Silicon Roundabout, the London Cyber Innovation Centre will provide start-ups with the IT infrastructure and technology and space to meet with enterprises facing cyber security threats, in the hope they will secure commercial contracts and investment. The government hopes a cohort of fledgling start-ups will break into the global cyber security industry, which is forecast to be worth £69bn in 2018. When South and North Korean athletes marched under a flag of unity during the opening ceremony, it reminded the world that sport could be a catalyst for peace. This was also reminiscent of the cross-border moment at the border here in 2012, which reminded us that there is more that unites us, than divides.
