‘The Daily Show’: Comedy Central Sets Dates For Guest Hosts Hasan Minhaj, Marlon Wayans, Kal Penn, Al Franken & John Leguizamo

Comedy Central has set dates for the next five guest hosts who will fill in at the desk of The Daily Show . Hasan Minhaj steps in for the week Febuary 27, followed by Marlon Wayans the week of March 6; Kal Penn the week of March 13; Al Franken the week of March 20 and John Leguizamo the week of March 27. Dates for additional guest hosts, including TDS correspondents and contributors, will be announced in the coming weeks. Guest hosts have been filling in since Trevor Noah exited the show on December 8. Chelsea Handler is hosting this week’s shows, marking her latest late-night guest hosting spot after she filled in for Jimmy Kimmel during his summer holidays. Sarah Silverman is set to take the reins next week, beginning February 13. Jose ‘Pepe’ Bastón Signs With John Pollak & Wilmer Valderrama’s Allied Management Group

EXCLUSIVE : Media mogul Jose ‘Pepe’ Bastón is looking to ramp up his interests in the U.S. after signing with Allied Management Group , the company founded by former NBCU exec John Pollak and actor Wilmer Valderrama. Bastón, who spent three decades at Mexican media giant Televisa, has signed with the company through its partnership with Monica Gil and Carolina Aymerich’s CRE84U. The aim is to grow Bastón and his Elefantec Global studio’s business in the English-language market in the U.S. Elefantec Global, which is based in Los Angeles, Bogota and Mexico City and has relationships throughout Latin America and the U.S., is behind projects such as Miguel Bose biopic Bose and limited series La Rebelion and has a partnership with Fox-owned MarVista Entertainment. Lee Moder Dies: Comic Book Artist And Stargirl Co-Creator Was 53

Comic book artist Lee Moder , who co-created the Courtney Whitmore version of Stargirl with Geoff Johns in 1999, has passed away, according to ComicBook.com and statements from his peers. The web site cited a family friend, who indicated that Moder died quietly at home sometime on or before January 15th. No cause of his death was given. Moder was 53. A TV series based on the Stargirl character ran for three seasons on the CW, ending last December. DC ’s Stargirl followed Courtney and her stepfather Pat Dugan (Luke Wilson) as she leads an unlikely group of young heroes to take on the legacy of DC’s very first superhero team, the Justice Society of America. Johns served as showrunner, and executive produced the series with Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter. Moder worked in the comics industry for nearly three decades. WGA West Sets First Membership Meetings To Discuss Upcoming Contract Talks

The WGA West on Saturday will hold its first membership meeting to discuss its upcoming negotiations with the AMPTP for a new film and TV contract. Two other membership meetings are scheduled in Los Angeles later this month, and one will be held in New York. John August , a member of the WGA Negotiating Committee, spoke recently on his Scriptnotes podcast about the upcoming meetings and what members should expect as the process unfolds.
