By Associated Press PUBLISHED: June 13, 2018 at 6:06 am | UPDATED: June 13, 2018 at 6:31 am By ROB HARRIS and GRAHAM DUNBAR MOSCOW (AP) — North America will host the 2026 World Cup after FIFA voters overwhelmingly opted for the financial and logistical certainty of a United States-led bid over a risky Moroccan proposal for the first 48-team tournament. The soccer showpiece will return to the U.S. for the first time since 1994 after gaining 134 votes, while Morocco got 65 at the FIFA Congress in Moscow on Wednesday. The vote by football federations was public, in contrast to secrecy surrounding the ballot by FIFA’s elected board members for the 2018 and 2022 hosts, Russia and Qatar, in 2010. The U.S. proposed staging 60 out of the 80 games in 2026, when 16 teams will be added to the finals, leaving Canada and Mexico with 10 fixtures each. An optimistic promise of delivering $14 billion in revenue helped sway voters, along with the lack of major construction work required … [Read more...] about 2026 World Cup awarded to North America
x Right before director Shane Black offers his take on the feared space hunter, fans in the Czech Republic will be treated to upgraded re-releases of the first three films in the long-running Predator franchise. 4K Ultra HD releases have been announced for 1987’s Predator, 1990’s Predator 2 and 2010’s Predators, plus all three films will also be sold together in special Blu-ray Steelbook. On top of that, the original will be getting its own 3D Blu-ray and 4K Steelbooks. An August 29th release date has been set for all of the above, albeit only in the Czech Republic so far. Though audiences elsewhere may be disappointed by the limited regional availability of these fancy new reissues, this news could also be regarded as a sign that similar announcements may follow for the rest of the world. As such, fans in North America shouldn’t be surprised if they’re given the opportunity to see their favorite technologically advanced, … [Read more...] about All Predator Films To Be Re-Released On 4K Ultra HD Outside Of North America

MIAMI — A gigantic $4 billion retail and entertainment complex won government approval this week after years of debate, greenlighting what promises to be the largest mall in North America, just a few miles from the environmentally sensitive Everglades. The Miami-Dade County Commission voted 9-1 on Thursday to approve American Dream Miami, which would be built on 175 acres of now vacant land at the busy confluence of Interstate 75 and Florida’s Turnpike, northwest of Miami International Airport. Plans call for hundreds of retail shops and restaurants, but the developers don’t want people to call it a mall. They’re pointing to its planned theme-park attractions such as an indoor ski slope, submarine ride, water park and skating rink, along with 2,000 hotel rooms. “We’re not building a mall. We’re not in the mall business,” said Don Ghermezian, president of Canada-based developer Triple Five. “This is a park that is meant to compete … [Read more...] about Proposed Miami complex would eclipse MOA as North America’s largest mall
