Due to the lockdown owing to the Coronavirus pandemic, many award functions were not conducted. Because of this, many good films that had released in 2019 were not honoured. But now, since the situation in the world is getting better, organisers are now all set for award ceremonies to honour the best work of 2019. A few days ago, Filmfare had organised the first-ever award function for OTT content in December 2020. And now, Planet Marathi is all set to present Filmfare Awards Marathi 2020 to honour the best films and work of 2019 in Marathi cinema. The organisers recently announced the nominations list of the films which are competing to bag the 'black lady'. Maren Morris and Chris Stapleton emerged as the leading nominees with six each when the nominations for the 56th Academy of Country Music Awards were announced Friday morning. Morris’ strong showing is due in part to the success of her song “The Bones,” which landed her nominations for Single of the Year and Song of the Year (Morris co-wrote the crossover hit). As an artist, she’s up for Female Artist of the Year and, as a member of the Highwomen, for Group of the Year. Stapleton’s nominations arrive on the back of his latest album, Starting Over . He scored nominations for Album of the Year and Song of the Year (for the LP’s title track) and artist recognition in the Male Artist of the Year and Entertainer of the Year categories. Golden Globes this Sunday (February 28) will kick off 2021's awards season in a hybrid manner, with some celebrities walking down the red carpet while others joining in through webcams and the safety of their homes. Keeping the pandemic in mind, the Golden Globes this year will be taking place on two coasts for the first time. Comedians Tina Fey and Amy Poehler will be returning for the fourth time to host the awards show. While Tina Fey will host from New York, Poehler will be joining from Beverly Hills, California. Last night I tuned into the Grammy nominations special waiting to see an “iconic group” announce their “monumental” reunion . I saw Lady Gaga sing with Sugarland. I saw a lot of Bruno Mars. I saw the Band Perry inexplicably cover Tom Petty’s “Free Falling.” I saw Usher perform with Mike Stoller and Valerie Simpson. I didn’t see anything resembling a reunion. Sony Pictures Classics is set to release awards contender The Father in select New York and Los Angeles theaters today before expanding nationwide March 12 before landing on PVOD on March 26. That’s quite a theater-to-digital journey for the Florian Zeller-directed drama starring Anthony Hopkins and Olivia Colman. The film, which premiered at Sundance in 2020, is adapted from Zeller’s 2014 play which starred Frank Langella, who won a Tony Award his performance. Zeller and Christopher Hampton adapted the play which follows Anthony (Hopkins), a defiant 80-year-old man who lives alone and refuses the carers that his daughter, Anne (Colman), encouragingly introduces — and she needs the help. She can’t make daily visits to her father and his grip on reality is unraveling.
