EXCLUSIVE: Warner Bros Pictures Group has inked a multi-year first-look directing and producing agreement with two-time Oscar-nominated filmmaker M. Night Shyamalan , whose movies have grossed $3.3 billion at the box office. In a career spanning four decades, Shyamalan has the rare distinction of having film open at No. 1 in each of those decades. Most recently, he saw his seventh No. 1 opening at the box office with Universal’s Knock at the Cabin, which currently counts $40 million worldwide off a $20M production cost. The pact with Shyamalan comes amid a string of talent deals made recently by Warner Bros. Oklahoma Police Captain Asked Officer to Turn Off Body Cam After DUI Bust
An Oklahoma City police captain put on a show after he was busted for allegedly driving drunk ... and it was all caught on body cam video -- which he desperately tried to suppress. Check out the footage, released Thursday by Oklahoma City PD, showing Capt. James French getting pulled over at his home by a police officer last weekend after cops said he was swerving as he drove down the road. Right from the get-go, French tried to weasel his way out of trouble by identifying himself as a police captain and whispering to the officer to turn off his body cam. But, the cop refused and asked French if he had been drinking because he was slurring his words. French changed the subject and made a second attempt to get the camera switched off. But, the officer was in a no-nonsense mood. He sternly said, "I'm not turning my camera off. You got to be kidding me." WGA East Sets Walkout At Hearst Magazines For Thursday; Hundreds Sign Petition
Hundreds of WGA East members who work for Hearst Magazines Media are planning to stage a walkout Thursday to demand a fair contract. The half-day action is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. ET and will last the remainder of the day. “ WGA East members at Hearst have been bargaining a first contract for over two years and their last scheduled day of negotiations is March 28,” the guild said. “With only one bargaining session left, the Hearst Union is taking collective action with a unit-wide walkout in their fight for a fair first contract.” Rallies in support of the walkout will be held at four locations: outside the Hearst Tower in Manhattan; at the Hearst offices in Easton, PA; at the Hearst offices in Ann Arbor, MI; and the Hearst offices in Birmingham, AL. Lance Reddick Dies: ‘John Wick’, ‘The Wire’, ‘Fringe’ & ‘Bosch’ Actor Was 60
Lance Reddick , a prolific actor who played Charon in all four John Wick films and was a series regular on The Wire , Fringe and Bosch among dozens of other roles spanning a quarter-century, died today. He was 60. His rep at Portrait PR confirmed the news, saying he died of natural causes but not providing other details. The actor had been doing interviews for the upcoming John Wick: Chapter Four starring Keanu Reeves just this week. He also was set to appear in the franchise-spinoff pic Ballerina. Reddick began his screen career in the mid-1990s, guesting on such series as The Nanny and New York Undercover. Later in the decade, he appeared on the big screen in pics including Great Expectations and The Siege before recurring on HBO’s Emmy-winning 2000 miniseries The Corner , which was based on David Simon’s book.
