ABC’s General Hospital — already the winningest sudser in daytime history – was named Outstanding Daytime Drama on Friday while The Kelly Clarkson Show took home the prize for Outstanding Talk Show at the 49th annual Daytime Emmy Awards. The ceremony aired live on CBS and streamed on Paramount+. Jeopardy! won Best Game Show with new hosts Mayim Bialik and Ken Jennings, while Mishael Morgan made history by becoming the first Black woman to win Outstanding Lead Actress in a Daytime Drama for her work on The Young and the Restless. The in-person ceremony at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium opened with a not-so-subtle reference to Friday’s Supreme Court ruling overturning Roe v. Wade. After host Kevin Frazier referenced how well his co-host Nischelle Turner looked in her blue gown, she replied, “I chose this dress. It was my choice.” The comment was met with huge applause. Christine McVie to Reunite With Fleetwood Mac on European Tour
Ever since Christine McVie quit Fleetwood Mac in 1998, fans have pined for a full-fledged reunion of the band’s classic lineup. Now it’s finally happening – well, sort of. As the BBC reports, McVie has agreed to rejoin her bandmates for two shows during the band’s upcoming European tour. Singer Stevie Nicks broke the news during an interview with BBC Radio 4’s Woman’s Hour . Q&A: Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham Reveal Lingering Tensions in Fleetwood Mac “She is going to come and do a song on the second two shows,” Nicks said. “I think it will probably be ‘Don’t Stop.’ I don’t know, but she’s coming to Ireland to rehearse with us.” The BBC was unable to confirm specific details with band representatives. This news is quite surprising: Last year, during an interview with Rolling Stone , Nicks shared a pessimistic outlook on a potential reunion. “I would say there’s no more a chance of that happening than an asteroid hitting the earth,” she said. … [Read more...] about Christine McVie to Reunite With Fleetwood Mac on European Tour

The remaining members said over and over again that she’d never return . Rolling Stone spoke with her about leaving the band, what she’s been up to during the past two decades and what the future holds for Fleetwood Mac. Readers’ Poll: The 10 Best Fleetwood Mac Songs Let’s go back to 1998. Why did you quit the band? Well, I initially developed a great fear of flying. It was a real phobia. Pink Floyd Set Physical Release of ‘Hey Hey Rise Up,’ Their First New Song in 25 Years
Pink Floyd will release two physical versions of their first new music in over 25 years, recent single “Hey Hey Rise Up,” which was first released digitally in April to support of the people of Ukraine. The single will be available as both a 7-inch and CD single on Oct. 21 in the U.S., with both formats boasting newly-reworked version of “A Great Day For Freedom,” from the band’s 1994 album. The Division Bell . David Gilmour reimagined the song using the original tapes, which feature Nick Mason on drums and the late Richard Wright on keyboards. Proceeds for the physical release and the ongoing digital sales will go to Ukraine humanitarian relief. “Hey Hey Rise Up” was recorded in late March in Gilmour’s barn and features vocals by Andriy Khlyvnyuk of the Ukrainian band, Boombox, who recorded himself in full military gear singing the folk song, “The Red Viburnum in the Meadow,” to the empty streets in Kyiv’s Sofiyskaya Square. Gilmour was so moved by the performance … [Read more...] about Pink Floyd Set Physical Release of ‘Hey Hey Rise Up,’ Their First New Song in 25 Years
How ‘Stranger Things’ Made Kate Bush’s ‘Running Up That Hill’ a Gen-Z Hit
Most of the top five of the Billboard Hot 100 looks pretty normal right now: Harry Styles’ “As It Was,” Jack Harlow’s “First Class,” Future’s “Wait For U” (feat. Drake and Tems), Lizzo’s “About Damn Time.” But when you get to Number Five, you’ve entered the Upside Down — there’s Kate Bush ’s utterly perfect 1985 single “Running Up That Hill (A Deal With God),” way higher than it ever got on the U.S. charts in its first run, during Ronald Reagan’s second term. And in her native U.K., “Running Up That Hill” has actually returned to Number One. It’s all, of course, due to the song becoming a key plot point in the new Stranger Things , where it literally saves the life of Max Mayfield (Sadie Sink, also the star of Taylor Swift’s “All Too Well” short film ). In the new episode of Rolling Stone Music Now , Rob Sheffield joins host Brian Hiatt to talk about “Running Up That Hill,” why Kate Bush is primed for a generational rediscovery à la Joni Mitchell, the history of old … [Read more...] about How ‘Stranger Things’ Made Kate Bush’s ‘Running Up That Hill’ a Gen-Z Hit

Lakers Legends Amazingly Painted On Outdoor Court In L.A., Kobe, Shaq, Pau & More!
William Ortwin This is awesome ... an outdoor basketball court in Los Angeles got a complete makeover this week -- with images of Kobe Bryant , Shaq , Magic Johnson , and other Lakers legends being painted all over it. The artist behind the work, Gustavo Zermeno Jr. , tells TMZ Sports he initially linked up with Veniceball and Project Backboard to repaint the court at Southside Christian Church in Inglewood to try to give it some TLC. The Lakers theme was Zermeno Jr.'s idea ... saying he's been wanting to do this for years and "the pastor of the church is a huge Laker fan so it worked out perfectly." Zermeno -- who's been painting professionally since 2016 -- tells us the focal point was Kobe (his favorite Laker) and other players who had their jerseys retired. He also wanted to pay homage to Pau Gasol ... saying he "deserves to be up there with them." Waiting for your permission to load the Instagram Media. Drugs, Bluegrass, and Bass Fishing: How Billy Strings Outran His Past and Infiltrated the Mainstream
Billy Strings backs his black Jeep Gladiator down to the lip of Nashville’s Percy Priest Lake and hops out to unhook the tricked-out bass boat he’s towing behind him. The heavy sounds of Primus, one of his favorite bands, spill loudly out of the cab, where old Combos wrappers, cigarette butts, and fishing lures are strewn about. Strings, in a Dickies work coat with “Boomer” embroidered over the heart and a “Billy Strings” patch on the opposite side, lets his cigarette dangle from his mouth while he frees the boat from the trailer in a pair of white fishing gloves. “I love this little fucker,” he says, tossing me a line attached to the boat before jumping back into the Jeep to park it nearby. “Just walk it into the water like a dog — and don’t let it float away.” Soon, Strings is bounding back down the parking lot, onto the small dock, and behind the wheel of his boat, a 16-foot Tracker he bought as a birthday gift to himself a few years ago. On board, there’s about a dozen … [Read more...] about Drugs, Bluegrass, and Bass Fishing: How Billy Strings Outran His Past and Infiltrated the Mainstream
