Kimberly Godwin , a longtime CBS executive, has been named the next president of ABC News . News surfaced last week that Godwin was being tapped for the role. Godwin will have oversight over editorial and business operations for broadcast, digital, streaming and audio news. She will succeed James Goldston, who departed on March 31. She also will be the first African American woman to lead a broadcast network news division. Godwin, who will join ABC News in May, as details were worked out to let her out of her contract at CBS News . Internet personality and content creator Chris Crocker minted their famous 2007 “Leave Britney Alone” video as a non-fungible token and sold it for about $44,000. Crocker launched the sale on the NFT marketplace Foundation on April 9th with a starting price of 10 ethereum (the cryptocurrency used most frequently to buy and sell NFTs), or $23,729.20. Based on the auction history, it looks as though there was a bit of a bidding war over the next week between two people. The sale was finalized on April 12th, with the NFT selling for a price of 18.6942 ETH, which is about $44,477.61. Disgraced financier Bernie Madoff , who carried out the largest Ponzi scheme in history, died Wednesday, April 14th, at the Federal Medical Center in Butner, North Carolina. He was 82. The Federal Correctional Institution Butner Medium, where Madoff was incarcerated, confirmed his death. According to The Associated Press , a source said Madoff died of natural causes. As The New York Times notes, Madoff was reportedly suffering from kidney disease and had requested an early release from prison last year after being admitted to palliative care. Originally known as a self-made financial wiz, Madoff was one of Wall Street’s biggest players for decades. He helped launched Nasdaq, the first electronic stock exchange, and served as its chairman.
