EXCLUSIVE: Wild Bunch International (WBI) has boarded sales on buzzy Portuguese director, artist and producer Gabriel Abrantes ’ upcoming English-language feature Amelia’s Children . The film is among half a dozen new titles being launched by WBI at the EFM, alongside a raft of previously announced upcoming films, including Cannes hopefuls such as Hirokazu Kore-Eda ’s Monster . The company is also handling Berlinale Competition selections, Philippe Garrel’s The Plough and Makoto Shinkai’s hotly awaited anime Suzume, and the Panorama title Heroic , which world premiered at Sundance. Abrante’s psychological thriller Amelia’s Children is his solo feature debut and his first feature since his 2018 Cannes Critics’ Week winner Diamantino (co-directed with Daniel Schmidt). Indie producer Daisy Allsop has joined WestEnd films to oversee acquisitions and development across the company’s slate of films and TV shows. Allsop takes over from Toby Hill and has already started her new role. She will attend the Berlin film festival, where WestEnd will debut Traitor , a new television series from the creators of False Flag, Valley of Tears , and Euphoria . As an independent producer, Allsop’s credits include Tell It To The Bees (2018), Orthodox (2015), and the forthcoming My Happy Ending , starring Andie Macdowell and Miriam Margolyes. Allsop is also a screenwriter, represented by Casarotto Ramsay. She continues to operate her producing slate through Archface Films. “We are thrilled to have Daisy join our team. The Singalings will air on the new Sky Kids linear channel later this year and is one of the first shows to emerge from the original content arm of Snipple Animation . The show, which kicks off each episode with a song, centers on three inquisitive and eager extra-terrestrials who are here to discover all they can about Earth, visiting the zoo, the beach and a funfair. It is comprised of 26 x 1 ’45’ songs,  26 x  5’ episodes, 2 x song compilations and 5 x episode compilations. EXCLUSIVE : The BBC has told 10 of its most seasoned news anchors that they have lost their prestige presenting roles on the broadcaster’s rolling news channel. Deadline can reveal that journalists including Jane Hill, Martine Croxall, and Ben Brown were informed yesterday that they will not be among the chief presenters on a relaunched BBC News channel. The BBC is combining its international and domestic news channels into a single offering as the corporation bids to cut costs and reinvent its output for a digital age. The merger has been rumbling on for months, but in a single day 10 presenters were effectively told that their services are not required when the merged channel launches around April. Jess Brammar, editor of the news channels, phoned around presenters to deliver the news. Annita McVeigh, Geeta Guru-Murthy, and Shaun Ley are also among the unlucky presenters. EXCLUSIVE: Magnify Media sales boss Anthony Appell is leaving the Handmade: Good with Wood distributor, with others changing roles as ITV Studios takes over the company’s catalog. Appell, who is Head of Sales and Co-Productions for the Plimsoll Productions-owned outfit, announced he is to exit his role on March 31 and Acquisitions and Operations Manager Emma Gosling has already departed, joining Belgian distributor Primitives this week. As of last year, ITV Studios owns factual powerhouse Plimsoll, which has owned Magnify since 2020. Deadline understands six full-time Magnify staff have been in consultation talks with ITV Studio’s sales arm. CEO Andrea Jackson has been appointed Creative Director of Factual Entertainment at Plimsoll Productions and at least one other exec is having advanced discussions over a new post within ITV. 'cause he's in some troubled water -- after getting arrested for disorderly conduct following an incident with his wife in Connecticut this weekend. 72-year-old Simon and his wife, 48-year-old Edie Brickell -- from the band New Bohemians -- were both taken into custody and charged with disorderly conduct after a heated domestic dispute. Cops were called to the couple's house around 8 pm that night. It's unclear why the two were fighting. FYI -- Simon and Edie have been married for 22 years and have 3 kids together. 2:45 P.M. Law enforcement sources tell us ... cops went to Picardo's residence Friday night after someone in the house called 911 ... then hung up. We're told officers interviewed Picardo and his wife, Linda Pawlik ... who claimed he hurt her during a fight ... he denied it and no arrests were made. Picardo filed for divorce from Pawlik back in 2012 but the case went nowhere until May ... when Picardo hired a new lawyer.
