The New York Film Festival on Tuesday revealed its Spotlight section lineup, which includes the world premiere of She Said , Universal’s drama based on the work of New York Times reporters Jodi Kantor and Megan Twohey who investigated and wrote the bombshell 2017 Harvey Weinstein sexual abuse story. Maria Schrader directed the pic starring Zoe Kazan and Carey Mulligan that features a cast including Patricia Clarkson, Andre Braugher, Samantha Morton and Jennifer Ehle. Adapted from the reporters’ book by Rebecca Lenkiewicz, the film hits theaters November 18. Other Spotlight world premieres set for NYFF, which runs September 30-October 16, includes Till , Chinonye Chukwu’s story of Mamie Till-Mobley, the Chicago woman whose son, Emmett, was lynched while visiting cousins in Mississippi in 1955. The success of President Joe Biden ’s climate bill, which he’s slated to sign Tuesday, will not be judged by polls, or by the price of gas at the pump, or by the ferocity of the next hurricane that hits the Gulf Coast. In 1958, when scientist Charles Keeling began measuring CO2 in the atmosphere at Mauna Loa, the level was 316 parts per million (250 years ago, before the industrial era, it was 280 ppm). Today, 63 years later, the CO2 level is 416 ppm, an increase of roughly a third over pre-industrial levels. It’s the accumulation of this molecule that’s trapping heat in the atmosphere, causing oceans to rise, forests to burn, and extreme heat waves to cook cities. Amazon relationships format Modern Love is taking that loving feeling into the Netherlands. A Dutch adaptation will premiere on Prime Video globally this winter. The scripted anthology format, which is based on a popular column from The New York Times, began in the U.S. on Prime Video in 2019 before three Indian language versions and a Japanese remake were announced. The Dutch version, Modern Love Amsterdam , is the first in Europe. Several high-profile Dutch directors and writers have collaborated on the series’ episodes, all off which take place in Amsterdam, in locations such as the city’s iconic train station to Amsterdam-Noord and Zuidoost.
