Phoebe Wall Howard Detroit Free Press Published 7:27 AM EDT Apr 16, 2019 For the record, the 2020 Ford Mustang designed to go 0 to 60 mph in 4.5 seconds with a top speed of 155 mph is meant for the regular guy. Or girl. An outraged caller to the Free Press demanded to know how the carmaker could possibly explain delivering so much power with so few cylinders — 330 horsepower with a four-cylinder engine. Gearheads apparently scoff at the idea of just four cylinders for a high-performance car. "This is indicative of where the industry is going, the idea of increasing power with smaller engines," said Karl Brauer, executive publisher at Kelley Blue Book. "It allows you to have more fuel efficiency and power at the same time. It's giving you the best of both worlds. And it's further proof that while you can't break the rules of physics, technology allows you to bend 'em." Who would choose a lighter Mustang over the heavier, more … [Read more...] about 2020 Ford Mustang: Built to race, drive daily at 0 to 60 in 4.5 seconds
New car 7 year warranty
By Mike Moffitt, SFGATE Updated 3:44 pm PST, Friday, March 1, 2019 If you have a hankering for a new car, Phong Ly has some advice for you. Wait a year. The CEO of the automotive research firm and car search engine iSeeCars.com says buying a gently used car can result in major savings, particularly with certain models. "Consumers who buy a lightly used car can still take advantage of the remaining manufacturer warranties and can have the car inspected by an independent mechanic prior to purchasing to ease any uncertainties about the vehicle's condition and driving history," says Ly. iSeeCars.com crunched numbers for over 7 million new and used cars sold from August 2018 to January 2019, comparing the prices of new cars to equivalent vehicles with a minimum amount of use. The 10 models that represent the biggest savings are included in the above slideshow. Two of those cars were among the five top cars to buy used over new in the Bay Area, the Nissan Altima and the Ford … [Read more...] about The best cars to buy slightly used vs. new in the Bay Area and U.S.
0 Have your say When Janice Browning agreed to buy a truck from a local used car dealer little did she know within days it would be declared unfit to drive and end up parked in her garage for the next 15 months. Her nightmare began after she decided the family needed a sturdy 4x4 to tow her daughter Fiona’s horsebox. The pair looked around the internet and settled on a used Nissan Navara pick-up. Navaras are capable of carrying heavy loads and trailers, so they were delighted when a friend told them he’d seen one advertised on Facebook by Drokes Farm Motor Company Wickham for £3,800.The 13-year-old truck appeared to be in reasonable nick for its age and mileage, and as her trusted mechanic was not immediately available to give it the once-over, she took a chance and bought it.But 14 days later, despite it having been sold with a new MoT and six-month warranty, her local independent garage had no hesitation in declaring it unroadworthy. They … [Read more...] about Truck declared unfit to drive – 14 days after being bought from car dealership
opinion Jeff Dunetz Published 10:48 PM EST Nov 7, 2018 Last month, President Donald Trump directed the Environmental Protection Agency to allow the year-round sale of gasoline that contains 15 percent ethanol, or E15. The decision is a big win for politically connected corn farmers -- and a big loss for American drivers and the environment. For more than a decade, the federal government's Renewable Fuel Standard has required refineries to blend biofuels into their gasoline. The most popular biofuel by far is ethanol derived from corn. It has accounted for 87 percent of the RFS's blending requirements since 2007. The architects of the RFS claimed it would benefit the environment. When burned, ethanol produces fewer carbon emissions than traditional gasoline. So if car drivers started using ethanol blends en masse, America's emissions would drop dramatically -- or so corn lobbyists claimed. In reality, ethanol blends have harmed, not helped, the … [Read more...] about Corn continues to thrive in the swamp
