Lindsey Graham Would Like States to Decide If LGBTQ People Count as Fully Human
Sen. Lindsey Graham said he wants states to decide the issue of whether two consenting adults can get married. When Dana Bash asked him if he would support legislation codifying same sex marriage, Graham claimed it’s a state issue during an appearance on CNN’s State of the Union Sunday. “[Sen. Rob Portman (R-Ohio) is] trying to get enough votes to codify same-sex marriage because Justice Clarence Thomas suggested it might be in jeopardy ,” Bash said. “You said two weeks ago that the state-by-state approach is the best way to go. I want to be clear about your position. Are you saying the 2015 Supreme Court decision that made same-sex marriage the law of the land nationally should be overturned?” Lindsey Graham on CNN says that "I think states should decide the issue of marriage," but when Dana Bash asks him if states should also decide whether interracial marriage is legal, he dismisses the question as a distraction from inflation pic.twitter.com/L1rGv6ZGBi — … [Read more...] about Lindsey Graham Would Like States to Decide If LGBTQ People Count as Fully Human

Melanie Lynskey Is Mad as Hell and Not Going to Take It Anymore. Maybe.
There’s a moment in the pilot of Yellowjackets — Showtime’s Nineties-nostalgia-evoking, deeply disturbing cult-hit about a group of high school soccer players who survive a plane crash in the Ontario wilderness — when one of the survivors, Shauna (played by Melanie Lynskey), meets another, Taissa (Tawny Cypress) at a diner. A housewife so profoundly bored by her day-to-day routine that she masturbates to her daughter’s boyfriend’s photo, Shauna has just been approached by a reporter asking to tell her story about her time in the wilderness, which we already know from ominously lit flashbacks of a terrified girl being hunted and then possibly roasted over an open fire was not particularly positive. “We agreed: Say no more than we have to, stay out of the public eye,” Shauna reminds Tai forebodingly. “If someone’s digging, we are all fucked. Take care of it.” A waitress arrives to refill her coffee. On a dime, Shauna reverts to a sunny, mild-mannered suburbanite, flashing … [Read more...] about Melanie Lynskey Is Mad as Hell and Not Going to Take It Anymore. Maybe.
