WZZM-TV (Grand Rapids) Published 2:07 PM EST Dec 9, 2018 WYOMING, Mich. — The community is mourning the loss of a woman who died trying to save her dog. According to the Wyoming Department of Public Safety, 38-year-old Tracy Cashman was reported missing Saturday night after not returning home from walking her dog. Cashman's family say she frequently walked her dog at Battjes Park. Around 9 p.m., Cashman's dog returned home without her, so her family went to the park to search for her. They were unable to find Cashman and called police for help. Around 12:25 a.m., police say crews discovered Cashman's body in the ice of a pond at the park. Firefighters performed a cold water rescue, but Cashman was already dead. Missing Indiana woman found dead outside S. Michigan house
Associated Press Published 10:18 AM EST Nov 16, 2018 Niles, Mich. – An Indiana woman has been found dead outside a house in southern Michigan two days after relatives reported her missing. St. Joseph County, Indiana, police say 54-year-old Dawn M. Smith’s body was found Wednesday afternoon outside the home shortly after Michigan State troopers discovered her disabled van abandoned along U.S. 12. Assistant St. Joseph County Police Chief Bill Thompson tells WNDU-TV that Smith’s van had lost a wheel and she was likely trying to get to the home for help. Michigan State Police are investigating the Granger, Indiana, woman’s death and will determine how she died. St. Joseph County police say they believe Smith died from exposure. In the first competition to dispense with the swimsuit parade, Emily Sioma of Grass Lake reinforced that this was a new, more modern event. At the beginning of the telecast from Atlantic City, New Jersey, in the portion where contestants typically give their names, states and universities, she offered a commentary instead: “From a state with 84% of the U.S. fresh water, but none for its residents to drink, I’m Miss Michigan Emily Sioma.” Miss New York, Nia Franklin, ultimately won the crown, with Connecticut, Louisiana, Florida and Massachusetts rounding out the top five. The 60-year-old St. Clair County woman thought she had won $500 on a Super Bonus Cashword instant game. Two days later, she realized it was worth $1 million. The game is set up like a crossword puzzle and the woman thought she'd scratched off seven words, equaling a $500 prize. However, when she returned to the Speedway gas station where she had purchased it, located at 2611 Roavenswood Road in Port Huron, the clerk said it couldn't be cashed. The woman took the ticket home and looked at it again, finding two more words she had missed on her initial scratch — bumping her prize to $5,000. Police seek missing Southfield woman who may be in danger

Kyla Shay Bell, 43, was last seen with a friend at Theresa's Place Restaurant on West McNichols in Detroit. Bell left the restaurant at 2 a.m. and drove herself to an address near the 18000 block of Westmoreland near Six Mile Road. Bell's family and friends say it's uncommon for her to not show up to work and to go this long without contacting them, according to a Southfield Police Department news release. Bell is a 5-foot, African-American woman with brown hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing her work uniform, which is a black long-sleeve dress shirt, black tie, pants and slip-on shoes.
