A new Miss Universe was crowned in New Orleans, Louisiana from the 84 beauty queens that entered the pageant. Harnaaz Sandhu, the representative from India and the titleholder from the previous year, crowned R’Bonney Gabriel of USA as the new Miss Universe. The second runner-up went to Andreina Martinez Founier of the Dominican Republic and the first runner-up was Amanda Dudamel of Venezuela. Gabriel is a fashion designer, model and sewing instructor. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design with a Minor in Fibers from the University of North Texas. Gabriel is also the CEO of her own sustainable clothing line. ‘Missing’ Finds $760K In Thursday Previews, ‘Avatar 2’ To Remain Strong In Sixth Weekend
The only new wide studio release this weekend is the Stage 6 and Screen Gems thriller Missing which collected $760K yesterday off of showtimes that began at 4PM at 2,650 locations. The movie, which is from the creatives behind Sony’s micro-hit , Searching , is expected to do in the mid single digits off 3,000 theaters. Similar to Searching, Missing was made off a very thrifty budget of $7M before P&A. Missing is executive produced by Searching ‘s Timur Bekmambetov, produced by Sev Ohanian and Natalie Qasabian, and storied by that previous title’s Ohanian and Aneesh Chaganty, the latter who helmed the first title. ‘Waterworld’ Stunt Performer At Universal Studios Hollywood Rushed To The Hospital After Accident
A performer at Universal Studios Hollywood at the Waterworld: A Live Sea War Spectacular was hospitalized after an accident during one of the shows at the theme park on Monday, January 23. “We can confirm a performer with one of our long-standing show vendors was transported to the hospital following a stunt during an afternoon performance and our thoughts are with him as he receives care. Details surrounding the event are being reviewed,” a spokesperson for Universal Studios Hollywood said. The Los Angeles County Fire Department responded to a call from the theme park just before 2:10 p.m. regarding an “unresponsive patient,” KTLA reported. The performer received CPR at the scene and was conscious when he was rushed to the hospital. Tusk V , the University of Arkansas' legendary live mascot, has died, the school announced Tuesday. He was 4 years old. The University released a statement on Tusk V's passing ... saying he died of natural causes at his home outside of Dardanelle, Arkansas. Tusk, born on April 19, 2018, served as the school's official live mascot for three years (2019-2022) and witnessed the football team win two bowl games during his tenure. Tusk V was a staple on the sidelines at Razorbacks games ... and would routinely interact with fans throughout the season.
