The Real World is officially coming back — on Facebook Watch. Facebook execs on Wednesday unveiled plans at MIPCOM to partner with MTV Studios and producer Bunim-Murray Productions to revive the long-running reality series, with three new incarnations (in the U.S., Mexico and Thailand). The Real World reboot will again follow the lives of a group of young people who agree to live in a house together in a new city, via weekly half-hour episodes on Facebook Watch. And MTV and Facebook will feature homes in the U.S., Mexico and Thailand filled with seven young people each, and with cameras on hand to capture their conversations and interactions. Eurythmics’ Dave Stewart Talks NBC’s ‘Songland’ Show, Songwriting Evolution
Eurythmics co-founder Dave Stewart is working with The Voice executive producer Audrey Morrissey, Voice judge and Maroon Five frontman Adam Levine and One Republic's Ryan Tedder on NBC's upcoming music competition show, Songland, which will pull the curtain back on how young songwriters work with industry producers and top artists to knock global smash songs into shape. Stewart is at MIPCOM this week and sat down with The Hollywood Reporter to discuss how he conceived the idea to get five songwriters performing original songs for music producers and top recording artists episode, before a winner has his or her song recorded and released as the artist's next single. British startup to launch streaming service where viewers can buy shares in new series
British entertainment start-up Bombay Sour will launch a new video streaming platform this week on which subscribers will be able to buy shares in upcoming content. The platform, which Bombay Sour describes as "crowdfunded Netflix", uses blockchain technology to allow subscribers to take a stake in pilot content before it breaks onto TV, film or streaming services. Since being founded in May, Bombay Sour already has a slate of more than 200 TV pilots and short films from directors including Eric Kissack, who directed The Dictator and Phil Sheerin, who won Best UK Short at the Raindance Film Festival in 2015. The company said it would be ramping up production operations through to the end of the year. SUPERMARKET Sweep will make a return with a new host following Dale Winton's death. The 62-year-old presenter's death was confirmed by his agent on Wednesday night. Dale had hosted the food-based quiz show from 1993 until 2001 and then again in 2007, and in one of his final interviews, he revealed his hopes to return to the programme for a third time. But sadly following his death, a Supermarket Sweep revival will need a new presenter. Last year, FrementleMedia acquired the global format rights for the show, and following Dale's death, they released a statement to pay tribute. A spokesperson told the Mirror Online: "We are very sad to hear the news about Dale Winton, he was a huge star who always put his fans first.
