Sue Kim , director of an Oscar-shortlisted short documentary about competitive Rubik’s Cubers, can solve a complex storytelling puzzle in under 40 minutes. In The Speed Cubers Kim rotates between two main characters—Australian Feliks Zembegs and American Max Park, two of the fastest to ever solve cubes in competition. “Feliks is the GOAT in the same way that Michael Jordan is the GOAT. His records may never be broken or no one might ever reach the level of dominance that he reached, but he’s clearly being unseated by Max,” the director tells Deadline. “Max is kind of like LeBron. After Emilio Estevez wrapped up his time as Gordon Bombay in 1996 for D3: The Mighty Ducks , he shifted his focus from acting to directing. More than twenty years after the final Ducks movie, The Public and Culture Clash in AmericCCa director now says the Disney + reboot series is his chance to get back into on-screen spotlight. “It’s interesting to come back now using The Mighty Ducks as a re-entry vehicle,” the actor-director said during Disney+’s TCA panel on Wednesday.
