It’s been a cold and dreary Covid winter, but Dionne Warwick has been making the days brighter. The legendary singer and activist took over her Twitter account in December and has been showing off her humor, positivity, and love for younger artists. From shouting out Taylor Swift to questioning why performers use “the” in their stage names, Warwick has been taking advantage of her time at home to connect with both longtime and brand-new fans. And Twitter isn’t the only place we’ve seen the “Walk on By” crooner over the last year. She appeared on reality singing competition The Masked Singer just before the pandemic kept her grounded at home. Andrea Martin ( Great News ), Robert Ri’chard ( Empire ), Juani Feliz ( Blue Bloods ), Kate Rockwell ( Mean Girls: The Musical ) and Sullivan Jones ( The Surrogate ) are set for recurring roles on Amazon ’s Harlem , the comedy series from Tracy Oliver (Girls Trip ), Amy Poehler’s Paper Kite Productions and Universal TV. They’ll join previously announced Whoopi Goldberg and Jasmine Guy, who also recur. Created, written and executive produced by Oliver, Harlem , formerly the Untitled Tracy Oliver Project, is a single-camera comedy following the lives of four black women, friends from their college days at NYU, as they navigate sex, relationships and chasing their dreams. The nominations for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame’s class of 2021 are in and the list features Jay-Z , Foo Fighters , Mary J. Blige, Iron Maiden , Tina Turner , the Go-Go’s, Rage Against the Machine , Kate Bush , Devo , Chaka Khan , Carole King , Fela Kuti , LL Cool J , New York Dolls , Todd Rundgren , and Dionne Warwick . The top vote-getters will be announced in May and inducted in a Cleveland, Ohio, ceremony in the fall. To be eligible for this year’s ballot, each nominee’s first single or album had to have been released in 1995 or earlier. Seven of the 16 acts on the ballot (Foo Fighters, the Go-Go’s, Iron Maiden, Jay-Z, Carole King, Fela Kuti, and Dionne Warwick) are appearing for the first time, although Carole King was inducted along with Gerry Goffin as a non-performer in 1990 and Tina Tuner entered the institution in 1991 along with Ike Turner. The Rock and Hall of Fame has announced that the 2021 induction ceremony will take place at Cleveland, Ohio’s Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse on October 30th. The class has yet to be determined, but Mary J. Blige , Kate Bush , Devo , Foo Fighters , the Go-Go’s, Iron Maiden , Jay-Z , Chaka Khan , Carole King , Fela Kuti , LL Cool J , New York Dolls , Rage Against the Machine , Todd Rundgren , Tina Turner , and Dionne Warwick are on the ballot . The winners will be announced in May. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony was first held in Cleveland in 1997 when the Bee Gees, Buffalo Springfield, the Jackson 5, Joni Mitchell, Parliament-Funkadelic, the (Young) Rascals, and Crosby, Still & Nash were honored in the Grand Ballroom of the Renaissance Cleveland Hotel. The 71st Berlin International Film Festival unveils its program this week, with the Generation and Retrospective sections kicking off proceedings today. A total of 15 films are selected across the two youth-focused Generation competitions – Kplus and 14plus. Of the titles chosen, 60% are directed by female directors. Scroll down for the full list. The movies come from the likes of Canada, China, and Korea. There are eight world premieres and six debuts. Films arriving from other festivals include the animation Cryptozoo, which was at Sundance and features Lake Bell and Michael Cera in its voice cast. The 2021 Retrospective program will focus on the comedic work of three actresses – Mae West, Rosalind Russell, and Carole Lombard during the era when the Motion Picture Production Code (“Hays Code”) was coming into effect.
