EXCLUSIVE : Sean Combs ’ cable network Revolt TV is undergoing a leadership change with Roma Khanna stepping down as CEO. Former MGM and NBCU exec Khanna, who was named CEO in September 2017 , will move into a new role as adviser to the Revolt TV senior team and shareholders. Colin McIntosh, EVP and Head of Finance and Operations, and Detavio Samuels, COO and Head of Content, will take on the additional role of Co-Heads of Revolt and take over the day-to-day leadership of the company. They will report to Combs Enterprises COO Tarik Brooks. During Khanna’s three years in charge of the network, Revolt has launched shows including State of the Culture and Revolt Black News and has expanded its distribution with packages on AT&T platforms, Mediacom and OTT outlets including Philo and Sling. Roma Khanna Named CEO Of Sean Combs’ Revolt Media & TV
Former MGM Studios TV Group & Digital president Roma Khanna has been named CEO of Revolt Media and TV. At the music-themed digital cable network, founded by chairman Sean Combs and backed by Comcast, Khanna will fill the void left by the departure of original Revolt TV CEO Keith T. Clinkscales who left a year ago. Khanna, who will report to the Board of Directors and Combs, will be tasked with expanding Revolt’s presence across multiple platforms globally and produce and distribute premium short- and long-form content under the Revolt brand. “As Revolt continues to grow as a brand and expand globally, I knew we needed a seasoned executive with a proven track record to keep the momentum going and help me lead the network into the future,” said Combs. “Roma is that person. ‘Resurrection’ Feature From ‘The Bible’ Producers To Premiere On Discovery+
Resurrection , a film from The Bible producers Roma Downey and Mark Burnett that follows the immediate aftermath of Jesus’ crucifixion, will premiere on Discovery+ on March 27. Phylicia Rashad To Exec Produce & Possibly Star In Emily March’s ‘Eternity Springs’ In Works For Television
EXCLUSIVE: The Cosby Show alumna Phylicia Rashad has teamed with Virgin River executive producers Roma Roth and Christopher E. Perry to executive produce and possibly star (schedule permitting) in a series adaptation of Emily March’s ongoing 18-part novel series Eternity Springs . Writer John E. Pogue ( Beauty and The Beast, Everwood ) is attached to pen the series adaptation. Reel World Management’s Roth and Perry will executive produce with Rashad and Pogue. RWM’s Rosana Roth will serve as co-producer. A network is not yet attached. RWM and Rashad are preparing to take the series to market. Oscar Winner Alfonso Cuarón Inks Overall TV Deal With Apple
Apple has finalized a multi-year overall deal with Alfonso Cuarón, the Oscar-winning Roma and Gravity filmmaker. Under the pact, which has been in the works for some time, Cuarón through his production company Esperanto Filmoj will develop TV projects exclusively for Apple TV+, the tech giant’s new streaming service that is prepping for its November 1 launch. No other details have been made available, but we hear the pact spans five years and is a state-of-the-art deal. Cuarón’s TV development will be exclusive to Apple+. On some of it, he is expected to collaborate with longtime partner Anonymous Content where the filmmaker has a non-exclusive deal. He also plans to team up with other creative collaborators. Cuarón’s longtime producing partner Gabriela Rodriguez will run Esperanto Filmoj’s day-to-day operations out of its London headquarters.
