It was “checkmate” for Anya Taylor-Joy at the 78th annual Golden Globe Awards as the Queen’s Gambit star secured her first career win on Sunday. During Sunday’s award’s ceremony, hosted by Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, the Peaky Blinders and New Mutants actress took home the best actress in a limited series, anthology series or motion picture made for television prize. In the Netflix series created by Scott Frank and Allan Scott, Taylor-Joy leads as the highly skilled, yet self-destructive chess prodigy Beth Harmon. Taylor-Joy acts alongside Chloe Pirrie, Bill Camp and Marcin Dorocinski. Upon receiving the her first Golden Globe award from Rosie Perez, Taylor-Joy thanked her fellow nominees who she said she has come to know upon watching their projects during lockdown. Tom Holland Doesn’t Think There’ll Be Another Spider-Man Split Between Marvel and Sony
Finally, Tom Holland has revealed the title for the third Spider-Man film, and this time, he did it officially and not on an Instagram story. The film's titled Spiderman: No Way Home . The title was revealed in a short Instagram video, where the title was written on a whiteboard with other rejected titles around, which included "Homeworlds'' as a potential title. Nevertheless, it's just amazing to finally have the title for the film after what seems to have been ages. But, what next? The road to Spider-Man: No Way Home hasn't been easy for Marvel fans. After Spider-Man: Far From Home made big at the box-office, the deal between Sony Pictures Entertainment and Marvel Studios regarding the use of Spidey across productions from both studios fell apart, leading Sony to take back Spider-Man with them and officially canceling any future involvement of Holland's Spider-man within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. John Burks, Rolling Stone’s First Managing Editor, Dead at 83
John Burks , Rolling Stone ’s first managing editor who helped guide the rock magazine’s coverage of political issues, died earlier this month at the age of 83. Burks’ wife Deborah Nagle-Burks confirmed her husband’s death to the San Francisco Chronicle , adding that he died at their Pacifica home on February 17th from heart disease. “He was a true journalist and an excellent editor, both in guiding stories into print and in coming up with ideas that helped expand the parameters of Rolling Stone ,” longtime Rolling Stone editor Ben Fong-Torres, who Burks hired, told the Chronicle . Burks is also credited with recruiting photographer Annie Lebovitz for the magazine. NBA’s Toronto Raptors Vs. Chicago Bulls Game Postponed By Covid-19 Player Shortage
The Toronto Raptors had to postpone its National Basketball Assn. Sunday night game against the Chicago Bulls because it couldn’t field the league’s requirement of suiting up eight players. Several Toronto coaches, including head coach Nick Nurse, and forward Pascal Siakam had to sit out Friday’s game against the Houston Rockets because of the NBA ’s health and safety protocols. The league investigated the contacts and determined that too much risk was involved in continuing tonight The Raptors are next scheduled to host the Detroit Pistons on Tuesday before a game against the Celtics in Boston on Thursday. Both those games are now in jeopardy. Also being watched is Houston’s game against the Memphis Grizzlies on Sunday night, given the proximity of the players from Friday’s game.
