With Covid-19 vaccines being rolled out as we speak, the big topic in the entertainment industry this year is the possibility of the nightlife and touring world returning in 2021. The conversation about how to return to normal once restrictions are lifted has created many questions, most of which cannot yet be answered. Will proof of vaccinations have to be confirmed before entrance? Will there be rapid tests on-site before entry? Will a six-feet-apart rule be enforced? Or will promoters, venues and artists just have to further adapt to digital concerts and perfect the streaming experience for fans to better enjoy from their screens at home? What will our new normal be like for the creatures of the night? Kygo Helicoptered a Piano Up a Mountain for His Virtual Concert
On Thursday (or Friday, depending on your time zone), Kygo will release his virtual concert, performed from atop a snowy mountain in Norway’s Sunnmore Alps. To make it happen, the Norwegian DJ and pop hitmaker spent more than $100,000 of his own money, according to manager Myles Shear. “Since I started touring, this is the longest time I’ve gone without playing a show so I wanted to do something really special in Norway,” Kygo tells Rolling Stone . “To me, the Sunnmore Alps are a perfect setting that displays the beauty of Norway. Growing up, I’ve spent a lot of time skiing and hiking in the mountains across Norway and wanted to show everyone who hasn’t been to Norway a bit of what it’s really like.” Related Stories Kings of Leon Will Be the First Band to Release an Album as an NFT Shawn Mendes' Manager Is Helping Launch a New NFT Marketplace Related Stories From Soup Nazis to Nuts: 100 Best 'Seinfeld' Characters 'Silence of the Lambs': 'It … [Read more...] about Kygo Helicoptered a Piano Up a Mountain for His Virtual Concert

Kings of Leon Will Be the First Band to Release an Album as an NFT
On Friday, Kings of Leon will release their new album, titled When You See Yourself , in the form of a non-fungible token ( NFT ) — becoming the first band to ever do so. The band is actually dropping three types of tokens as part of a series called “NFT Yourself,” people involved in the project tells Rolling Stone. One type is a special album package, while a second type offers live show perks like front-row seats for life, and a third type is just for exclusive audiovisual art. All three types of tokens offer art designed by the band’s longtime creative partner Night After Night; the smart contracts and intelligence within the tokens were developed by Yellowheart, a company that wants to use blockchain technology to bring value back to music and better direct-to-fan relationships. Van Morrison Previews New Album With Graceful ‘Dark Night of the Soul’
Van Morrison unveiled a tender new blues ballad “Dark Night of the Soul,” from his upcoming album, Three Chords and the Truth , out October 25th. “Dark Night of the Soul” boasts a vintage mid-tempo groove of shuffling drums, silky guitar, rolling piano and the occasional keening organ. Morrison moves with nimble grace over these instrumentals, really showcasing his perennial vocal prowess during the final two minutes of the track, most of which he spends riffing on the titular refrain with an array of deft runs. Morrison wrote all the tracks on Three Chords and the Truth , save for “If We Wait for Mountains,” which he co-wrote with Don Black. The album also features a duet with the Righteous Brothers’ Bill Medley (“Fame Will Eat the Soul”) and contributions from guitarist Jay Berliner.
