The 47th Toronto Film Festival on Tuesday selected the Mary Harron-directed Dalíland as its closing-night movie. The pic stars Ben Kingsley as the older Salvador Dalí and Ezra Miller as the younger Dalí. However, the TIFF press release left Miller’s name off the cast credits. It’s been public knowledge that Miller is in the film. The Flash star this week was charged with felony burglary in Vermont in addition to several other run-ins with the law this year. Deadline learned this morning that Miller has not been cut out of Dalíland . ‘Prey’ Lands No. 1 Premiere On Hulu To Date Across Film & TV
20th Century Studios said Tuesday that its Predator spinoff Prey has notched the No. 1 premiere on Hulu to date across all of the streamer’s films and television series. The film also registered as the most-watched premiere on Star+ in Latin America and Disney+ under the Star Banner in all other territories, based on hours watched in the first three days of its release. Specific stats as to its viewership have not been disclosed. Released on Hulu, Star+ and Disney+ on August 5, Prey is set in the Comanche Nation 300 years ago and tells the story of the fierce and highly skilled warrior, Naru ( Legion ‘s Amber Midthunder). Jill Biden To Appear In National Geographic’s ‘America’s National Parks’ Docuseries
National Geographic has added a special guest to its upcoming five-part docuseries America’s National Parks – first lady Jill Biden . She will start off each night of the series, narrated by Garth Brooks, with a special message about how each national park – Grand Canyon, Yosemite, Big Bend, Badlands, Hawai’i Volcanoes – connects people to a piece of the American story. EXCLUSIVE : Academy Award -nominated Winter on Fire : Ukraine ’s Fight for Freedom producer Den Tolmor is creating a feature based on Wali , the Canadian ‘lone wolf’ sniper who spent the first two months of the Ukrainian war fighting the Russians. Provisionally titled The Good Fight, Tolmor, who has spent much time filming in Ukraine since the 2014 annexation of Crimea, is penning with Nicholas Klein ( The Million Dollar Hotel ). He hopes to start shooting later this year and the pic is currently part funded. ‘Rust’ Production Company Fined Nearly $137,000 For “Willful & Serious” Safety Violations: “An Avoidable Loss Of Life Occurred”
UPDATED with detailed summary of the investigation: The company that produced the ill-fated Rust movie has been slapped with a fine of $136,793 by the New Mexico Occupational Health and Safety Bureau for its “willful and serious” violation of workplace safety procedures. Lamont Dozier , who along with his songwriting and producing partners Brian and Eddie Holland was a pioneer and driving force of Detroit’s beloved “ Motown Sound” of the 1960s and ’70s, died Monday in Arizona. He was 81. His death was announced on Instagram today by his son Lamont Dozier Jr. No cause or additional details were given, with Lamont Jr. writing only, “Rest in Heavenly Peace, Dad!” The famous Holland-Dozier-Holland team was the force behind such iconic Motown hits as “Heatwave” by Martha and The Vandellas; numerous hits by The Supremes , including chart-toppers “Where Did Our Love Go” and “Baby Love”; and scores of songs by The Four Tops (“Baby, I Need Your Loving,” “I Can’t Help Myself [Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch]”), The Isley Brothers (“This Old Heart of Mine”) and Marvin Gaye (“Can I Get A Witness?”). Lamont Dozier, the Motown songwriter and producer who helped craft hits for artists such as the Supremes, the Four Tops, and the Isley Brothers, has died. He was 81. The news was confirmed by his son, Lamont Dozier Jr., who wrote on Instagram , “Rest in Heavenly Peace, Dad!” A cause of death has not yet been announced. Dozier was born in Detroit on June 16, 1941 and launched his career in music as a singer, performing with various local doo-wop groups like the Romeos and the Voicemasters. In 1962, he signed to the Berry Gordy’s fledgling Motown records as an artist, producer, and songwriter, and quickly found himself working with brothers Brian and Eddie Holland.
